War of Attrition: A Trigger Switch

Religion is instilled and sensitive, it has been forever
They who threaten it dangle on a small tether

To threaten one's beliefs and religion
Is a truly terrifying decision
Setting off a type of trigger switch
Swerving society into an even deeper ditch
For the outrage felt by a change of faith
Or the announcement of religion as fake
Would ignite conflict and anger off the scales
And drive us into a horror our current one pales

So, do nothing? Sit and watch?
As our faith imprisons us, limits us, and creates war?
Do we dare let off a trigger switch today
That frees us of religion but imprisons us a different way?
We lose our guidance and buffer to fall back on
And set off a trigger for the end of a sweet song?
If you truly believe in leaving religion's vice
Are you prepare for what your switch will transpire?

Worth it to just let religion be? There are positives aplenty
Or deal with the repercussions and gain the future's accessories?
