Sam’s POV.

“Mom, he’s fine. Look at him,” I said and sighed before rolling my eyes. I watched my brother lie on the hospital bed while eating free chocolate pudding. He seemed to be overly excited about the fact that they were free and that he could have as many as he wanted. “Is that even healthy?” I said with furrowed eyebrows while eyeing his mouth and nose that was covered in chocolate without him knowing it.

“Why didn’t you contact me that you weren’t going to catch the train yesterday? I was worried sick!” my mother scolded me before taking a seat next to me. I rolled my eyes again.

“Mom, I’ve already had this conversation with dad in the car ride over here.”

“Why do you even have a phone if you’re not going to use it? I called you several times,” my mom continued nagging, ignoring my earlier words. The funny thing was that my father had also said that earlier.

“My phone is currently dead; I didn’t have time to charge it.” My mother shook her head disapprovingly before giving me a stern look.

My little brother had fallen off of his loft bed in the middle of the night when he was going to go to the toilet, earning a mild concussion from the fall. My parents were known for overreacting so they wanted to have the whole family, when something this tragic as they put it, must be present.

My father drove directly in the morning over to Seoul to pick me up. Since it was early in the morning, I went completely panicked since something terrible must have happened for him to fetch me so early. I was still half asleep when I was in the car but I woke up completely when my father told me that Hunter, my little brother, was in the hospital.

To be honest, I was a little worried about him but I still thought it was exaggerated to drag me all the way from Seoul.

After seeing him now, eating pudding as if his life depended on it made me sigh. He would throw evil daggers at me now and then making me smirk. I took it as a sign that he was normal and okay since the doctors also said he was fine after they did an x-ray on his stupid head. They still wanted to keep him here for a few hours though since the symptoms after a mild concussion are often noticed afterwards.

”I’m staying in Seoul for another week,” I suddenly said making my mom turn her head to look at me.

“Oh, why?”

“I don’t know,” I lied. “I liked being there and Mr. and Mrs. Kim are really nice to me. Besides, school doesn’t start until two or three weeks and I like Seoul,” I ended it honestly. She nodded approvingly.

“Is her son nice to you now?” she wondered while staring at the small TV-screen that was hanging on the wall. It was some bad talk show on.

I shrugged, “He’s okay, I guess.”

“Although you don’t like him very much, I do. He had a goal and he reached it, not many guys do that at young age.” I stared at her with a scowl.

“Gee mom, you sound like you have a crush on him,” I said and slumped down on the seat before staring at the screen as well. She chuckled inwardly.

“No, you’re father is the best and the cutest–”

“Change of topic,” I said, interrupting her on purpose because I didn't want to hear her gush on about how amazing my dad is. I was about to bring up how it went on summer school when her phone suddenly rang. I shrugged it off and continued watching TV while hearing her talk in the background.

She suddenly nudged my shoulder which made me look at her with a question mark.

“It’s Jongin,” she mouthed me and pointed a finger to her phone. Oh shoot! I widened my eyes for a split second before biting my lips. I forgot to contact or even tell Kai what was going on.
