I stared at Myungsoo while Kai patted my back and lunged forward before grabbing me a glass of water. He was still smirking from his so called funny comment and it seemed like he immensely enjoyed his mother's comment and the look I had while I was choking.

“What just happened?” I mumbled to myself while making small coughs. Kai heard it and grinned widely.

“Are you okay?” he asked without an ounce of care. I slapped his arm away in annoyance and he smiled his usual evil smile before continuing to eat.

I could almost see smoke coming out of Yihyun’s ears as she shot me a death glare. Her breathing increased too because she was trying to control her anger and tried not to slap me from across the table. I just looked at her before returning my attention to Myungsoo.

“Sorry, it was an accident,” I said to both of them but I only looked at Myungsoo. As the good boy he truly is, he smiled and gave a response that made Kai scoffed incredulously.

“It’s okay, are you though? I’m more worried about you,”

I smiled while coughing up the remaining drops of water in my throat and assured him and Mrs. Kim that I was okay since she was wondering too. I could barely look at Kai’s mother properly. She remembers it! I felt my face flush red and I tried not to look at her direction under the whole meal while cursing in my mind.

-

“You sure?”

“I’m sure,” I reassured Myungsoo. He was standing outside the front door and was about to head home. “I’ll make sure to ask for your help if I need it.”

Myungsoo nodded his head. I told him that it wasn’t a very good idea to work with him because no job done and it was due in a few days before summer school ended.

“See you in school then!” he said while he walked backwards. I nodded before closing the door and headed upstairs. It was only 7 p.m. and I wasn’t tired so I decided to get some homework done before I fell asleep.

-

Three hours later and I still had not done half of the work. I went with the tougher ones first and they took the longest time. The pen in my hand had already been sharpened thrice and I diligently wrote in my notebook. Papers were scattered all over the small bed in the guest room and some had fallen down on the floor. I was sitting in a cross-legged position so I was too lazy to pick them up so I just ignored them for now.

Somebody knocked twice on my door but I was too absorbed in my homework to notice so I didn’t respond. I was mumbling answers before writing them down when the door opened and Kai’s head popped in. He eyed me but I still didn’t acknowledge his presence so he slipped inside and closed the door. It caught my attention so I quickly looked up, making my glasses fall down my nose.

“What are you doing?” I asked him while I pushed my glasses up with my index finger.

He smiled from the sight of me wearing glasses while studying hard. One of my eyebrows arched upwards and I scanned his body while he answered.

“I need help,” he said. I didn’t hear him because it was just now I realized how handsome he looked today. He was wearing black knitted sweater and a pair of skinny jeans in the same color. He was holding on to some papers too. “Hello?”

“Mm-hm?”

“Help me,”

“Huh?” I said, still absentminded. My brain then started working again and I comprehended what he said. “You need help? Weren’t you like the top three in your school?” I pointed out.
