So, yesterday I was reading my own story because I frequently go back and read comments and stuff and an ad popped up. Immediately, my first thought was that they started to monetize our stories. So then I was like, oh IT's LIT! My stories have pulled some big numbers in terms of views, so I was like "ooh, dope, I could get paid for this." Dawg, I need all the extra money I can get. I'm a broke college student, so a couple dollars wouldn't hurt. So, I do my research. First of all, I'm mad at how 'secret' this is. I've been on Wattpad since May (i think) of 2013. That's almost four years ago that I have constantly been on this site. I didn't hear/see ANYTHING about putting ads on stories. So I'm like, whatever, lemme see how I can sign up. It's called WattPad Futures. So then I go to the site. I'm hella happy 'cause I'm like "FINALLY, something I'm good at gives me the chance to make a lil' change!"
I know YouTube is monetized, but the only thing I would do on there is play classic Nintendo 64 stuff and try to beat games I couldn't when I was 7. I'd be horrible at it, which might be humorous to some people and maybe it would garner a sizeable following. But, I don't have a Nintendo 64 and I hate my voice, sooooooooo..... where do we go from here? Even Tumblr is running ads on blogs. There isn't a current system for that, I guess they're working on it. I was gonna do my thing with Sims 4 and do Simblr but I'm already tired of it lol. I'll get back into the Sims eventually, though.
On the FAQ page (WattPad Futures), it says that this was only open for a small amount of writers. That is so irritating, because that was last year. Yeah, late last year, but I wanna join NOW, dammit! My guess is maybe they went to the big writers or something? Or maybe they went to the moderately sized writers. I just wish they would hurry up and open it to everyone who wants to do it. I feel like they'll need at least a year to open it up to everyone which is annoying. I hate when companies announce something awesome and then make you wait forever to release it to you. It's like TIME IS MONEY, FAM. I would hit yall with story after story after story! Matter of fact, let me get back into my habits of writing my butt off!
True, I love to write, but one day I really want to just be an author who gets a cute coin for her writing! It would so dope to be J.K. Rowling without the fame, I JUHH WANT DA CHECK!!! AYYYYYYEEEE!!!!!
Anyway, just know that this announcement has pretty much lit the fire under my ass to get writing! I'm a lil sad, because my stories have garnered ALL DESE VIEWS, which is awesome! It kept 1,000 and some change around to see what else I'm gonna write. That is so dope. But I'm also looking at my overall amount of views and seeing dollar signs fly out the window. I get sad when I see dollar signs fly out of my window :(
