"When something feels off, it is."

The setting is of an unpaved, rocky path with dried, fallen leaves covering most of it. The sky is dark but it's light enough to see the surroundings. Cold wind slowly blew making the leaves rustle.
Levi was sitting on a wooden bench on the side of the path, observing. He carefully analysed the area, looking for some sort of sign that would help him make sense of this suddenly deserted place.
"Hello?" A voice of a young boy called and Levi turned behind passively.
He eyed the boy standing behind him in a plain black T-shirt and denim jeans. His brown hair were falling into his eyes, which were filled with confusion.
"Who are you?" Levi asked.
"N-Nathan."
"What do you want?"
The boy didn't reply. He just looked around, scared and nervous.
"Do you know where my mom is?"
Levi sighed. "No, why don't you teleport to her or something?"
Nathan glanced at Levi wearily, then proceeded to walk closer to him. Levi scooted a little and Nathan sat down.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Nathan replied.
Levi snorted. "Right."
"No, seriously. I don't know! Where is everyone? Where is that old nurse, my parents? I was in a hospital! On a bed and.. there were these.. things.. attached to my arm.. right here." Nathan pointed at his wrist. "It's all gone.."
Levi frowned. "It can't be.." He whispered.
"What can't be?" Nathan asked in a hope to find answers.
Levi shook his head at the possibility. "Nathan, why were you in a hospital?"
"I was very sick, that's what my mom told me."
"How long had you been sick?"
"6 months?"
Levi inhaled sharply. He guessed that the boy wasn't just sick, he was fatally sick.. and he couldn't make it. There wasn't any other explanation for the boy to be present in this realm. He wasn't a Walker, he had no mark.
The next question that troubled Levi was how did the boy not know what was happening?
"Nathan, how old are you?"
Were you, Levi thought.
"Sixteen."
"Where are you from?"
Nathan frowned. "Here, of course."
"No, I mean.." Levi sighed and turned to him. "Where do you think we are?"
"My hometown? Seattle?"
Levi felt a crashing thump inside him. The boy has no clue he's dead and has crossed over.
"Look. I never had to do this so I don't think I'll do right but.. you're wrong. We're not in Seattle. We aren't even on Earth. This is a different reality, a different world. A spiritual one."
"Huh?"
Levi closed his eyes and gulped. "Your mom ever told you ghosts aren't real?"
"Yeah, they aren't."
"Not exactly. You see, every human has a spirit. In our world, on Earth, it's inside our bodies so we don't see it but when we die.. our spirit escapes the body and moves on to another world, another plane. Now I know it sounds insane to you but it's the truth. You've crossed over, Nathan. You're dead."
