"Research is creating new knowledge."
-Neil Armstrong***
As the sun came down, the rays fell through the window on Levi. He shielded his eyes with his hand and spoke.
"Shut the curtains."
"You do it."
"I'm working."
"And I'm not?"
"You're closer to the window."
"You need to exercise."
"I-"
He stopped himself and got up. "And I'm the lazy one." He taunted.
Alyssa exhaled deeply and closed the book. "I've written a few key points which might help us. But these books don't say enough about them."
"Then?" Levi asked and closed the curtain, casting the room under its shadow.
"We could go to my college library?" She suggested.
"Or you could go alone." He smiled.
"You're sure you have all the books here? There's more information and more information means more research." She said and got up to leave.
Levi titled his head and chuckled. "Can't stay away, huh?"
"You know the answer. The real one, not the one you desperately want to hear." She said with her arm on her hip.
"Alright." He rolled his eyes and grabbed the keys. "Let's go."
He passed her out of the door.
"D*ck." She rolled her eyes and shut the door behind her and Levi's voice got cut with the sound.
"Bitc-"
....
"It's strange." Alyssa said as she roamed the big aisles filled with book shelves.
"What is?" Levi asked, reading over the book titles.
"No part of this is your memory. I roam around here almost daily, it's no memory in particular. Plus, this is the best library in all of Dallas. It's hardly this deserted." She completed.
"You know, I was thinking something similar. We've not been attacked, not that it's a bad thing. But you'd expect something?"
"Exactly." Alyssa thought over it. "Doesn't fit the memory pattern.."
"And I've not even seen one of the crazies. They aren't even spying on us?"
"What if it's the calm before the storm?"
"Well, then we need to hurry the hell up." Levi said and pulled out a book. Tossing it to Alyssa, he moved forward. "Get to work."
....
Alyssa scanned through book after book, trying to match her notes with them.
Levi helped.
A little.
In between.
"Levi, get me any book about the history of Cheyenne.. or the whole Wyoming, for that matter."
"What's in Cheyenne?"
"An almost extinct specie of a tree. It can be used in a spell.." She said without moving her eyes away from the book.
"Not our spell. It's not in the list."
She looked up. "Levi. Get me the book?"
He reluctantly walked over to the shelves and searched through them. When he found it, he slammed it in front of her.
