"Love isn't two people promising each other forever - but two people walking the same roads, at the same pace."

As their cart reached a cliff soon afterwards, Alyssa and Levi looked down at the capital valley. They had reached Whiteland. People here wouldn't think twice before slaughtering Levi.
The realisation could be seen in his face.
"Let's keep moving?" He asked and looked around in defence. Alyssa didn't look away from the dream, paradise like kingdom's view, but she nodded.
The huge castle was eye-catching. It stood on a hill and four towers on each corner.
Levi reversed the cart and they started going down the cliff, into the capital.
They reached a busy market in the way. Levi gave Alyssa a cloth to hide her face and wrapped a scarf around his as well.
Alyssa kept her face down the whole while but she could sense eyes on her. Before she could stop herself, she lifted her eyes and met with a man staring directly at them. Then he whispered something to the woman beside him and their expressions were anything but friendly.
"Get us out of here fast." She said to him.
"Don't you see me trying?"
"You had to come from here?"
"It's the only way. Unless a horse can fly us over a river."
Alyssa didn't reply and lowered her head.
"Halt, sir!" A man shouted.
F*ck. They thought.
"Do not halt." She whispered.
"And get more attention? No thanks." He said and pulled the rope to stop the cart.
Alyssa closed her eyes shut and didn't move. The darkness was better than reality.. or whatever this was.
"Who are you? You aren't a native." She heard a man's voice.
"My name is Abraham." Levi answered in a deep voice. "Me and my wife are trying to reach the next city, mister. Is there a problem?"
Why does he always make me his wife? She wondered.
"Maybe. Who's she? Why's she hidding?"
"Not that it bothers you, my sir, but she has her reasons. I don't recognize your authority to question her actions."
"I don't want to disrespect. We are just satisfying our suspicions."
We need to get out, now. Alyssa tried to telepathically talk to Levi but she obviously failed.
"It's nothing to worry about. We'll be on our merry way, you can continue your merry day." Levi said and grabbed the rope.
The few gathered men, although still unsure, moved aside.
Levi as fast as he could guided the horse to move towards a less crowded area. Once out of the market, Alyssa took a breath of relief.. which of course didn't last long.
When they were crossing a bridge built on top of a small stream of water, they heard horses' footsteps.
They turned to see the man from the market pointing at them and 2 knights on horses, armed.
"Run, run-" Alyssa started but Levi shook his head.
"Too late."
"Are you crazy?"
