"When you have unanswered questions, everyone's kind of unsettled."
-Carl Harris***
Alyssa gasped and shook her hand away.
But as Odette blinked, her eyes turned back to brown and her expressions turned concerned. "Kathryn? What's wrong?"
Alyssa backed up and her back touched Levi. She didn't know what she saw so she turned to look up at him.
He, apparently was cynical too.
"Uh, Odette. Could you please get me a drink?" He asked in a husky voice.
"Sure, but are you two okay?"
They nodded rapidly.
She gave them a weird look and disappeared into the crowd.
"Did you see it too?" Alyssa turned and asked.
"I don't know, not sure what I saw."
"Can they, like, change shape? Or possess? No, they're just spirits. But maybe Aradia did something? You know a spell, or-"
"Then why hasn't she attacked? Odette had multiple opportunities where we had our guard down. Why'd she warn us by flashing her eyes?"
"Maybe we're too relaxed and dependent on Angels. They could fail to protect us. We need to remember that." Alyssa pointed out.
"Exactly, and stay away from Odette."
"She may not be the only one? Oh my God, what if we're hallucinating?" Alyssa gasped. "Maybe she's gotten in our heads and will-"
"Shut up." Levi interrupted. "Don't over think and create unnecessary problems."
"They might be true!"
"Might, Lisa. Might. Let's focus on what is, not what may be."
Alyssa's hand went inside her jacket pocket to touch the blade.
"So right now, some people are my college mates." Levi said.
"And rest are mine." She sighed. "This must be one of our college parties mixed."
"The one college party stands out in my mind is the one where we had illegal drugs and a police raid."
Alyssa's eyes widened and she shrieked. "What?"
"Yeah," Levi nodded, "so pray this isn't that one."
They walked further into the house as Alyssa spoke, "any particular things that stood out before the police came in?"
"No, I was in the backyard when that happened so I was able to run away."
"Okay, so let's stay in the backyard." She said and pulled him towards the end of the hall.
While struggling through the crowd, she accidentally pushed someone a little too hard.
"Oh, I'm sorry." She immediately said.
The person turned over and Alyssa was flabbergasted.
"Justin?"
"Seriously? This guy again?" Levi groaned.
"Hi, I'm not really sure I recognize you, love." Justin spoke with a little drunken voice.
"I see you met Alyssa, Justin." A girl patted his back and held him up straight. "Alyssa, this is Justin. He shares a couple of classes with me."
She realised this is the party in sophomore year of college where she met Justin.
Levi watched everything silently.
