"A lack of communication breeds assumptions of what the other is thinking or feeling; and assumptions are, more often than not, incorrect."

Her hand was still holding the gun and she aimed it right at Robb's chest.

She wanted to do that since long, but the circumstances she had imagined were vastly different.

"Why'd you kill him?" She demanded.

"He was gonna kill you both." He replied, nonchalantly.

"Like you f*cking care." She scoffed.

"You're right, I don't." Robb said coldly.

Alyssa recalled the time he was nice to her. Patient and helpful. Now he seemed distant.

"So this is the real Robb Lassiter? He sacrifices family, deceives and doesn't give a f*ck about others, right?"

"I have my reasons which I don't owe to you-"

"You left us to die!" She raised her voice. "Like hell you don't owe us! Give me one reason why I shouldn't pull this trigger and end your pathetic life right here, right now."

"I left you to die and now I came back to save you. We're even and I'll be away from you."

"We're even?" Alyssa laughed dryly. "You're joking, right?"

Robb took a deep breath and shrugged. "Not really."

Alyssa huffed. "Say your last words, brother."

"Nah, I'll pass." He smiled and looked down at his hands.

The gun in his hands was pointing at Levi.

Damn it, not again! She thought.

"Make your choice. Save a Cahill or kill a Lassiter."

When she didn't reply, he laughed. "You know, for a Lauder, it's a question of no debate. Killing both Cahill and Lassiter.. it'd be a good day for them. So what's stopping that trigger, sister?"

Then he realised, "unless.." He scoffed. "You like your teamwork.."

"Robb," Alyssa shook her head, "I swear I'll-"

"What?"

She looked at Levi. His eyes still closed and his black hair fell on his forehead.

"Your dad would be proud of you, Alyssa. If he could look at us right now. Pointing guns and all."
He taunted.

"What did you do with the ingredients? You had the portal. Ian died or something?" She laughed mockingly at him.

"No, he's good. Chilling in a prison. Thanks for the concern." He nodded.

"Then what? Had a deal with them, the soldiers? You can stoop that bloody low?"

Robb rolled his eyes. "Should've never interrupted. Should've known you'll ask all these unnecessary questions."

"Unnecessary?"

"I have a job here.. Alyssa. So forgive me if I'm not looking for family time. I have a different path and destination than you. Let's be on our own ways."

"Too late. The paths have already crossed, Robb, and you did a hell of a lot damage. I'm not just gonna let it slip by."

"Oh, you are gonna."

She tightened her grip and inhaled deep. "I'm sorry."

But before the trigger could be pulled, before the bullet could hit and kill Robb, Alyssa was violently grabbed and thrown at the ground.
