"If we leave now and take back roads, we can dodge them till Charlotte." Alyssa pointed to the major city of North Carolina.

"There's more coming up from Georgia." Levi pointed out.

"We'll reach Charlotte before them."

"And then? Their next stop is Charlotte."

"So we'll round up and take Interstate 40, straight to Nashville."

"I can see them on 40, Alyssa."

"Not from Charlotte, they would've moved closer to Raleigh, making the curve will get us out of their way."

"What about these ones? They're only a few miles away."

Alyssa got up and ripped off the wires. "Let's get the hell out of here."

They quickly grabbed their jackets and ran up to the car.

"Take the highway, then get off it, round up to Charlotte, wait, then go back up to I-40 which will take us Nashville. That's the plan, right?"

Alyssa nodded and shut the door with a slam. "Move."

Levi slammed the pedals as the tires screeched and the car rode away from the warehouse.

Levi had so much to say but he kept it all in. He was aware that this wasn't the right time. With a single glance at her, his thoughts were proved right.

She was looking away from him, not even having the courage to face him.

She felt hollow..

2 hours later, they reached Charlotte and stopped by a store to buy more guns.

"I'll go, you stay here." Levi said and went inside.

Alyssa thought. How she resisted at first, but then eventually gave in.. saw a little hope in their relationship. It had only been a day, she had never met him but she trusted him.

Her gaze fell on Levi as walked out the store. She had resisted him longer.. knew him since birth.. trusted him.. and he lived up to it. The guy hasn't even said a word to her when he has all the right in the world.

"Alright." Levi climbed in. "I remember the symbol," he said and drew on a piece of paper, "we have to carve them again."

"I'll do it. You drive us to Nashville." She said and took the packet from him.

Levi was driving silently.

Alyssa had her eyes trained hard on the cement road before her.

"I'm sorry, Levi." She said in a monotone voice.

"I know you are."

"I messed up. We lost everything."

"I know."

"I should've thought it through."

"You should've."

"So what are we gonna do now?"

"I have no idea."

"Do you think we should summon someone from Earth again?"

"And then what? Try to steal the bones too? The final words we need to speak to break the spell are written in a paper that's in the bag. The crazy loads of occult lore we read.. to summon Ruby, you wanna do it again with the crazies on our a**?"
