"Legacy is not leaving something for people. It's leaving something in people."
-Peter Strople***
Alyssa was lying down on her back with her eyes closed. The only movement was her shallow breathing.
"That's right," Aradia smiled as she came and stood beside her. "Access energy from your physical body. It'll help you heal faster."
Alyssa opened her eyes and asked, "aren't you scared they have all the ingredients?"
"They don't, sweetheart. Remember the third rose I told you about? They're not even aware it exists. Once you're okay, we'll go together and break the news to them. Can you imagine the look on their faces when they realise what a joke they are?" She laughed loudly.
Alyssa did imagine it. It didn't look hilarious to her, it looked broken.
....
"You three go and perform the spell. I'll talk to them." Crystal said to Robb, Rachel and Levi.
"They're not going anywhere. All of them have sinned, they're liars!" An Angel shouted.
"Yes!"
"True!"
Many others followed and expressed their disagreement.
"Brothers, sisters, I request you." Crystal started. "At the end of the day, they're human spirits. We have to protect them no matter what the cost."
"You paid quite a cost." Julia commented. "Weren't your wings the expense enough that you had to go and commit a larger crime?"
"She didn't know about my deal with Alyssa." Robb voiced.
Crystal looked back at Robb and shook her head. "Don't. You're making it worse."
"She'll be punished irrespective of that fact, boy." Julia said. "Sneaking a spirit into home is-"
"It's not like you would've given the fruit to us. We had to go and take it ourselves or we all would've died." Rachel interrupted angrily.
"We have certain sacred lines, Rachel." Anthony spoke up. "It would be a chaos if we didn't follow them every time we needed to save a spirit. That's beyond nature's rules."
"Does none of it makes sense to you?" Julia looked at Robb. "Resurrection isn't natural. You don't even know if what you bring back is even the same thing that you lost."
Robb felt angered but mostly remorseful.
"I accept my mistakes. We can let them do the ritual so that Aradia is defeated. Rachel hasn't done anything to be stuck here and be disintegrated. For her sake, we have to perform the spell anyways."
The Angels talked amongst themselves but they had a time deficit. They knew the flower had to be destroyed at any cost so they allowed them to perform the spell but they placed a condition.
"We thought after Aradia dies, we wouldn't need to seal the gates as we had planned. Since we'll no longer have to fight her, everything will remain the same. But now we've decided that the gates will be closed. The Angels and the Walkers will have no communication. They won't be allowed to travel any longer. Not just you two, every member of your tribe will pay the price. You will now go to the dungeon, perform the spell right away and never return to this realm."
They all stared at Julia wide eyed and jaws hanging open.
Robb realised he'll never see Rachel again. They won't be able to meet and that was the only solace he had.
