The world seemed to have stopped.
Will you marry me?
Blayze hadn't said it out loud, but the dessert had screamed it.
I'd had no clue he was remotely interested in Marriage.
Yeah, we'd both admitted that each other were somebody who made all those milestones seem worth it.
But he'd dropped zero hints to inform me that he wanted it any time soon.
Or at all.
Now, as I watched his face, with my heart absolutely hammering inside my chest, the poor man looked like he could quite literally go into cardiac arrest at any moment.
Clearly my verbal silence, while my mind was a freight train headed down a windy track, was torture on him.
A lapping sound caught my attention and I yanked my gaze off Blayze's face to see that Zeus and Zuke had found the plate I'd dropped.
No!
That's got the entity of this moment on it!
I didn't even want to eat that dessert.
I wanted to save it forever more!
"Hey!"
I practically launched off the couch to push the dogs away.
"No!"
I scolded the pair.
My heart plummeted when I found that they'd already gotten to the artwork that was the dessert.
All the words except for 'Marry' were an illegible smudge.
The drawn flowers and hearts were all an unrecognisable smushed mess.
My throat constricted and I felt tears prick at the backs of my eyes.
They ruined the masterpiece!
I choked back a devastated sob.
That kind of a masterpiece was what I wanted to get a picture of!
I needed to store that kind of thing In memories for the rest of my life!
"Bails?"
Shit!
Blayze went to a lot of effort to achieve this.
How the hell does he feel now?
I spun around, wiping the backs of my hands at my eyes to wipe away the tears.
"Th-they-!"
I choked.
"You're givin' me a heart attack here."
Blayze seemed oblivious to the Dogs' interference.
He moved off the lounge, too and knelt in front of me.
His face was an uncharacteristic picture of nerves.
My heart pounded.
Blayze never shows his fear.
He's learnt not to.
I thought back to the question that had been posed.
He wants to Marry me?
He wants me that long?
As in forever?
My heart was back to pounding inside my chest.
Yes, the dessert was incredibly creative and like nothing I'd ever thought of.
But if he actually wants this, then he needs to voice it, because I never plan on having this question asked to me ever again.
He can damn well voice it instead of having the dessert ask for him!
It's once and once only for this girl!
I shuffled across the polished wooden floor to get closer to him.
Kneeling in front of him, I cupped his tanned face between my hands.
"Ask me."
My traitorous voice came out as a breathless, whispered plea.
I felt breathless.
He looked bewildered.
"I already- what?"
"If you want this, then ask me."
I insisted.
My heart felt like it was going to explode.
This was a blissfully agonising moment, charged with intense electricity.
But I only planned on doing this once, so he could man up and spit the words out loud.
Blayze glanced down at something, then lifted his gaze back to mine.
His broad shoulders rose and fell as he sucked in a deep breath.
"Bailey Grace Harley... Will you marry me?"
My barely restrained tears spilled over, my eyes stinging from the salt component.
I had to give him credit.
Unlike me, his voice came out strong.
He's always strong.
One of the many reasons why I love him.
"Yes!"
I leaned in and attached my lips to his.
My lips tingled as his caressed mine in return.
I sucked in a deep breath, pressing my forehead against his.
"Absolutely yes!"
I croaked.
His arms came around me and he captured my lips in a searing kiss.
I sunk my fingers into his inky hair, all too eagerly kissing him back.
My mind was whirling.
Marriage.
I'm getting married!
Blayze broke our kiss and I found myself basically gasping for air.
Holy...
"Do you even want to have a look?"
His voice was little more than a husky whisper.
Oh my god!
He's right!
I struggled to detach myself from his body.
He grabbed my left hand and slipped the glinting silver ring onto my ring finger.
I lifted my left hand to get a closer look at the shiny masterpiece.
If I knew Blayze at all, I knew it would be just that, a masterpiece.
Because if somebody like him was going to do this, then he'd only be doing it once.
My breath hitched.
Not only was there a wicked diamond standing proudly in the centre, but little stones were made into horseshoes all around it.
It was absolutely perfect, in every sense of the word.
Well, maybe not perfect for some, but nothing could be more perfect for me!
And it no doubt cost a small fortune!
Warm, salty tears rolled down my cheeks and I tackled Blayze in a hug.
"It is perfect."
I whispered.
"So, so perfect."
Light laughter shook his body.
"You seriously had me fearing for my life for a while there."
He admitted.
"You threw me off guard!"
I exclaimed.
How the hell did he not understand that?
"There's no possible way I saw it coming!"
He hugged me tighter, burying his face into the side of my neck and inhaling deeply.
"Shit I love you."
Only now, with the intense emotion in his voice and how tight he was holding me, did I realise that he'd actually apparently thought there was a chance I wouldn't say yes.
I pulled back enough to be able to get a look at his face.
"Not."
I kissed his left cheek.
"As."
I kissed his nose.
"Much."
I planted a kiss on his right cheek.
"As."
I kissed his warm forehead.
"I."
I gave his lips a chaste kiss.
"Love."
I kissed his lips quickly again
"You."
By this point he grabbed onto the back of my head and kissed me deeply.
