The lights went on, flooding the Town Hall in a brightness that immediately said the festivities were over and the music stopped, letting the whisper's of the confused and curious patron's be heard.
Brett was sprawled out on the floor in front of me, clutching at his crotch and staring up at me with wide, shocked hazel eyes.
I placed my hands on my hips and glared down at him.
How dare he touch me in such an inappropriate manner?
The whole entire town knows I'm pregnant.
Most, if not all of them also know that I'm engaged.
And to Blayze no less!
Drunk or not, why the hell would Brett think that cupping a handful of my arse and having a good ole grope was a good idea?!
"What is going on here?"
I pulled my eyes off the sprawled out Brett to find a few of the Teacher's striding over, Deputy Principal Cunningham leading the way, a controlled glare set on his face.
"Bailey?"
A myriad of voices said my name, splitting my attention in too many different directions.
I could see Mum breaking her way through the gathered crowd, running towards the platform, her black and purple dress flying out around her legs.
Twisting around, I saw four extremely familiar figures, looking quite unfamiliar in their suits though, striding towards me, identical glares on all their faces as they took in the scene, though one was quite clearly the most aggravated.
Members of the crowd that happened to be in the way, dispersed as the clearly pissed off Blayze, Codie, Keegan and Heath strode through.
It didn't take a genius to see that these were guy's on a mission.
And guy's no sane person would want to mess with.
"Miss Harley?"
I cringed.
Mr. Cunningham saying your name was never a good thing.
Particularly because, rarely did he ever have anything good to say.
He was usually the sort of man who gave you the impression he almost always had a stick stuck up his arse.
Currently there was a guy sprawled out on the floor because I'd kicked him in his crotch.
I was officially going to be in deep shit.
Though at least I'd already been given my graduation certificate and they probably couldn't just take it away from me again.
"Bailey!"
I couldn't focus on one single person.
Too many people were demanding my attention, wanting answers.
By now, Noah and Hayley were at my side too, looking anxious but at the same time curious.
Mum had stormed her way onto the 'students only' area, her expression worried and curious.
"Bailey?"
I cringed yet again.
Biting into my lower lip, I slowly turned around, my feet feeling like cement blocks as I tried to move them.
Dragging my gaze up, I was eventually met with a frowning, arms folded across his chest Blayze.
Working my jaw, I tried to think of the best way to explain myself.
If I just said 'he grabbed a handful of my arse and had a good squeeze', Blayze would probably punch Brett so hard he'd go through the wooden floor.
"Well..."
I dropped my gaze to the scuffed wooden floor.
"Bailey?"
I peeked up at Blayze to see he had one eyebrow raised in question.
He wanted answers.
"Honey?"
That one was Mum.
She was worried.
"Bails?"
That was Noah and Hayley, also wanting me to speak.
"Miss. Harley?"
I winced.
That one was Mr. Cunningham.
"I know what happened!"
All heads turned to see Lee Freedman break through the crowd.
Heath shot an irritated glance towards our fellow peer.
"Wanna rack off Ken?"
Codie and Keegan snickered, their eyes dancing in amusement.
Blayze raised his eyebrows at his little brother.
"Lee?"
Mr. Cunningham questioned, his face and his expression tense.
Who would have known he knew how to use a student's given name?
He certainly apparently didn't know mine, always calling me 'Miss Harley'.
"He's been talking up how hot he thinks Bailey is."
Lee stated, placing his hands on his hips.
"Oh right coz you can talk idiot!"
Heath snapped.
"Take it easy Mr. Riley."
Mr. Cunningham warned, his eyes narrowing.
"No. I wanna know what he's gotta say."
I snapped my eyes over to Blayze.
He looked cool, calm and collected, but I knew his anger was simmering beneath the surface.
"Yeah c'mon! Let's hear it!"
I snapped my eyes over to see Codie with a smirk on his face and his arms folded across his chest.
"Codie!"
The shocked, yet slightly irate exclamation didn't come from Noah.
Lydia Holden, Codie's cousin, was one of the many students gathered around staring at what was going down.
Lydia was a quiet kind of girl.
She had black hair and blue eyes, which were similar to Codie and I'd have to guess they came from the genes they shared.
She was a conservative type of girl with a couple of close friends and one of the highest grade averages in our class.
She'd traded in her glasses for some contacts tonight I'd guess and she looked really nice in a purple and blue dress.
Many surprised faces turned towards Lydia and the poor girl's cheeks flamed in embarrassment and she dropped her gaze.
I felt for her.
I knew she wasn't a girl who enjoyed the spotlight.
Fortunately for her, I was fairly confident things would-
An uproar of voices and moving bodies made me stumble back a couple of steps.
I looked on with wide eyes as Blayze placed a hand on Heath's shoulder and pulled him back.
I looked around at the crowd, bewildered.
Apparently I'd missed the latest scene, being focused on how odd it was that Lydia had opened her mouth.
"You're gonna just let this happen?!"
Heath turned around to face Blayze and pushed at his chest.
He probably embarrassed himself a bit though, because Blayze didn't budge an inch.
Blayze flicked out a hand and suddenly Heath stumbled back a couple of steps.
The noise of the student body intensified around me, the students keen for some high level excitement.
"Listen to someone who almost fucked their own graduation by kickin' someone's arse!"
Blayze snapped at Heath.
"So what he just gets away with it?!"
Heath demanded, his fists clenching at his sides.
"What the hell's it to you?!"
I turned around quickly to see that Cameron and Jackson (also from the football team) had moved in to help Brett, who was still clutching at his crotch, into a sitting position.
"Aren't you like related? That's gross!"
Jackson chimed in.
I flinched as several bodies lunged forward.
Apparently Blayze was in damage control mode though, instead of beat people to a pulp mode, because he grabbed Heath and swung him around, getting between Heath and his target path.
"Take him away to cool off."
He ordered Keegan and Codie and pushed Heath in their direction.
The two of them looked understandably surprised, but they willingly enough grabbed onto an arm each and held a scowling Heath.
"Awe what and you're gonna beat up a bunch of eighteen year olds on your own?"
Codie complained.
"Codie shut up!"
Blayze warned.
With a roll of his eyes, Codie turned around and pushed Heath away from the crowd.
"Can you two get lost?!"
Heath grouches as he attempted to shrug them off.
"Shut up."
Keegan and Codie said in unison.
I almost laughed.
Almost.
Except, Blayze was now striding our way.
"Blayze-"
My voice was strained, even to my own ears.
His gaze landed on my face.
There had been plenty of times of Blayze showing restraint lately.
Except, the list of times he's blown his lid (that I've seen and not seen but heard about), was even longer.
I had no hope in hell of knowing what he was about to do.
He certainly looked mad.
Except, something in his eyes told me I had nothing to worry about.
But, what wasn't there to worry about?
Nearly half the town was probably in this hall at the moment.
A classmate had made a move on me and I'd put him on the floor by kicking him in his family jewels.
Heath was ready to get in a fight over it and now a few of the jocks had antagonised the situation badly enough that Blayze had made Keegan and Codie drag Heath away before he made a fool of himself.
I wasn't at all sure why my peers thought it a wise idea to ruffle Heath's feathers anyway.
There is literally one person in our grade who's taller than him and he's not even taller than him by much.
Plus, he's a hell of a lot weedier in build.
However, with Blayze, Keegan and Codie being among our mix tonight, I was absolutely bewildered as to why the jock's would even risk opening their mouth's.
My heart was pounding as with each step, Blayze closed the remaining space.
Unfortunately for me, he didn't stop at me.
His strides took him past me and I winced.
Guess this was one of the times he was going to lose his shit and do something stupid.
But then why the hell would he have sent Keegan and Codie away?
Weren't they perfect backup?
Or did he just have that much confidence in his fists that he believed he could handle however many of the jocks that were dumb enough to make a move?
"Now, now we don't need-"
Mr. Cunningham stepped forward, a hand outstretched in a cautionary manner, but his steps were hesitant.
He wasn't all that willing to put himself in the firing line.
"Hey back off man! Brett was an idiot yes but he's drunk!"
Cameron defended his friend who was still sitting on the ground.
"Yeah and Heath's got a massive chip on his shoulder!"
Jackson added, a glare etched on his face.
Now I cringed.
Way to go Cameron and Jackson.
A pissed off Blayze is almost at you, yet you say Brett should be excused just because he's drunk and then go and insult Heath!
The voices of the students grew louder.
Apparently many of the onlookers were eager for a fight, the word ringing around the room and others similar.
Some people were apparently just anxious to see what was about to happen.
"Blayze leave it please!"
I tried to reason.
He stopped just a few feet in front of Cameron, Jackson and the sitting Brett and all three seemed to falter.
A slow, taunting smirk began to grow on Blayze's face as his deep blue-green eyes took in the three idiots in front of him.
At this point, his hands weren't even clenched into fists, so I was beginning to lean towards confidence that he didn't intend to throw any fists.
Unfortunately I couldn't guarantee that one of the jock's wouldn't wind up provoking him into changing his mind.
