Bit of eye candy for ya ladies 😜 here's hoping you enjoy the chapter everybody!! 😍
"Are you ready?"
I shot Hayley a sideways glance as we joined the fest of the year twelve students heading towards the building that was about to house the English Exam.
"I'm not too worried about today's exams."
I told her.
"Maths and Science are what have me nervous."
Hayley offered up a sympathetic smile.
"I'm sure you'll do great."
"Don't make me think about them now!"
I exclaimed, feeling my eyes widen.
"Let me get through English first!"
Hayley laughed!
I wasn't exactly joking though.
I'm pretty confident in my English skills.
But I'll still need to concentrate.
"Hi ho!"
Both Hayley and I looked to my left to find that Noah had fallen into step with us.
"Hey."
Hayley and I greeted in unison, making all three of us crack up laughing.
"Well, the doom is officially about to start!"
Noah said with a dramatic roll of her eyes.
"Doom?"
Hayley asked incredulous.
"You're acing English!"
"Doesn't mean I'm excited about exams."
Noah replied, coming to a stop in front of the door to the gymnasium.
"The idea is to go in No."
I rolled my eyes and gave her shoulder a gentle but pointed push.
Noah shot me a smirk.
"That's what she said!"
I couldn't help but laugh!
Hayley rolled her eyes dramatically.
"The two of you are sick!"
With a roll of my own eyes, I headed into the gymnasium.
The large area was filled with single person table and chair ensembles, all in row's of about fifteen across and lined right back to the back wall of the gym.
"The tables are in alphabetical order."
Mr. Podger told us, a clip board tucked under one arm.
Noah groaned audibly and made her way towards the back of the classroom.
I was the first out of our trio, with my last name beginning with 'H', but even that wasn't right at the beginning.
Hayley and I turned out to be in the same row, except I was at the right hand side of the room and Hayley was way off to the left side.
I set my pens onto the desk top and eased myself down into the chair.
"Ready for this?"
I glanced to my left to see that Jack Hammond was the first in the 'H' section.
"I'm not too worried about this one."
I admitted.
"Silence year twelve!"
We all put our focus to the front of the class to see that Mrs. Robinson, the Deputy Principal was standing at the front of the gymnasium.
"Your exam booklet's will be handed out promptly. You are not to touch the paper until you are instructed to do so."
Mrs. Robinson's voice rang out through the building.
It was officially time to start.
A few of the Teacher's stepped forward, a stack of paper's in their arms.
Mrs. Robinson kept her beady, ice blue eyes on our year twelve student body, making sure nobody touched the exam paper's as they were placed onto the desk's.
Soon enough Mrs. Coleman, a year twelve Sociology Teacher placed my paper face down on my desk.
She didn't even meet my eye as she walked on to do the next student behind me.
The minutes ticked by, with the only sounds being the footsteps of the Teacher's walking, the swish of papers being moved and the odd slight cough or a clearing of a throat.
"Okay year twelve!"
Mrs. Robinson's voice rang through the gymnasium once again.
"You may now turn your paper's over. You have an hour and a half to complete the exam, or complete what you can."
I, along with everybody else, grabbed the corner of my paper pack and flipped it over.
The Exam entailed two parts.
The first was to write a detailed review on one of the three book's we'd studied in the class throughout the year.
The second part was to write an essay on our individual area of choice.
I scanned through the description a second time, to make sure I knew what I was meant to be doing, then I turned the first page over and grabbed a blue pen."How was your day?"
Mum asked as I trudged into the main house's kitchen.
"Actually not too bad."
I declared, heading over to the kettle to flick it on to boil.
"But I'm not looking forward to cramming in more study for tomorrow's exams."
Mum offered me a smile.
"I'm sure you'll do fine."
"It's Math's and Science Mum!"
I rolled my eyes.
"So?"
She questioned, raising a questioning eyebrow.
I threw my hands into the air.
"So I suck at Math's! And the idiot school wouldn't let me not do it!"
Hayley had done Math's this year by choice.
Noah had ditched the subject.
I'd had no choice.
The school determined I had a limited number of options because I'd missed close to half the school year.
I'd had to take the subjects that would actually allow me to finish my SACE in the limited amount of time that I had.
"Baby just give it your best."
Mum encouraged.
"It's all you can do."
"My best won't give me what I need if my best isn't good enough."
I denied, turning around to go about making myself a cup of tea.
"Don't put yourself down honey. You can achieve anything you set your mind to."
Mum insisted.
Because my back was to her, I rolled my eyes.
Here she goes with that Positive Thinking, hippy shit again.
I'm all for thinking positively over negatively, but my dear Mother can take the hippy side of it to the extremes sometimes.
