Friday May 10th (roughly 5 months since the last chapter)

💚 Bailey 💚

It felt a lot like Déjà Vu.
Except, this time I was at home, pacing the floor and checking my phone to see if the time was up.
The timing couldn't be further off if we'd tried.
Preparations were in full swing for Blayze and I's engagement party tomorrow.
I'd snuck off to town though, jumping at the chance to go and get a few last minute things Grandma and Mum needed.
The tinkling sound of my phone's timer alarm going off, made my heart just about leap into my throat.
I silenced the alarm, so it wouldn't wake Luka from his nap and I headed over to the bench.
My Son is six months old, I really don't need to be cooking another one just yet.
Of course I'd gone a bit overboard and grabbed four of the tests, hoping to get a solid average reading.
And I knew exactly what 'answer' I was currently hoping for.
But there was something in the water lately, with women conceiving left, right and centre around me.
My heart just about stopped when I checked the first test.
Moving onto the second one, my heart squeezed.
The third...
Fuck.

"You two excited for tomorrow?"
Georgia Bentley's eyes were lit up like a Christmas tree as she looked between Blayze and I.
Blayze rolled his blue-green eyes.
"Don't even know why we have to do it."
I elbowed his side.
"Shut up would ya?"
Laughing, Codie's Mum shook her head.
"Well i for one am lookin' forward to it!"
She told us.
"Been ages since we had a good party!"
Unfortunately, the Engagement Party was more or less the talk of the town.
I'd lost track of whom had actually been invited.
Of course somebody like Georgia was definitely on the invite list.
"How's Noah doing?"
I asked, returning the hug Georgia leaned in to give me.
She smiled at me as she stepped back.
"She's doin' well."
She nodded.
"But as you know, they're keepin' it all quiet for a little longer yet."
After the heartache of the miscarriage last year, Noah wasn't keen to broadcast to the world that she was again pregnant.
But she'd obviously told members of her own family, plus Codie's family and she'd informed Hayley and I.
"Hopefully after next week's scan they'll be content to let the news out!"
Georgia declared with a proud smile.
She's already a Grandma a few times over, but she's absolutely ecstatic for Codie and Noah.
My thoughts turned to my own uterus and I had to fight the urge to place a hand protectively on my lower stomach.
"I've got you two a table set up just over here!"
Georgia told us with a smile and turned to lead Blayze and I across the Cafe floor.
I couldn't help but smile at the corner table she'd given us, decorated with a dark blue, shimmering tablecloth and a few lit candles in the middle.
A small vase of flowers even sat near the candles.
I shot a glance at Blayze to catch his grimace and almost laughed!
"Thanks Georgia!"
I told her with a grin.
I'd asked her only a couple of hours ago, before Blayze and I had left home, if she could make our table just a little more special than usual.
I've got news for Blayze.
"Sing our when you're ready for a drink or to order food."
Codie's Mum told us, turning to head for the counter.
"I'd love a beer."
Blayze declared.
Now I did laugh.
Typical.
Georgia rolled her eyes.
"Righto. What about you Bailey?"
She raised a questioning eyebrow at me.
Looks like the date night beverage will no longer be on the cards for me.
"Just a juice for me thanks!"
I smiled quickly.
Georgia didn't bat an eye, but I caught the quizzical glance Blayze gave me.
"Shall we sit?"
I asked my fiancé as Georgia walked away from us.
"Are you gonna tell me what's goin' on yet?"
Blayze returned, folding his arms across his chest which was covered by a green button down shirt that he'd rolled the sleeves up to his elbows.
"We pretty much do this every week you know?"
I reminded him, with a roll of my eyes.
Mum insists she gets her Babysitting of Luka evening and that we treat ourselves to some couples' time out, at least once a week.
"But you're actin' weird. And Georgia's made shit fancy."
Blayze replied, taking the chair opposite mine.
A huge part of me had been itching to fill him in for hours so far.
But another part of me was anxious.
What if he doesn't take it well?
I slipped a smile into place and propped my elbows on the table.
"Maybe she's spoiling us because of the Engagement Party tomorrow?"
It was a lie.
She'd only gone to the extra effort because I'd asked her to.
Blayze frowned at the romantic setup that lay between us.
I almost had to laugh.
But my stomach churned with nerves.
Just tell him Bailey.
"Here ya go ya big chicken. You and Codie just needa learn how to suck up this romance stuff y'know, coz it makes your girls so damn happy."
Georgia chided as she brought a tray to our table, mine in a glass but Blayze's beer in a bottle.
She never even bothered trying to get him to take a glass.
"Could always just go muddin' or shootin'."
Blayze grumbled, taking the beer stubby from Georgia.
"For God sake!"
With a roll of her eyes, she shook her head as she set my drink down onto the table.
"How the hell did you two ever land fiancés?"
She shook her head once more and headed back to the counter, leaving me laughing and Blayze staring after her in bewilderment.
Codie and Noah got engaged on New Years Eve.
Their Engagement Party was scheduled for next month.
I turned my attention back to Blayze as he set his beer onto the table, it's low tide signalling he'd already taken a swig.
My plan had been to hold off, enjoy dinner and some small talk before telling Blayze the news.
But I could hardly sit still in my chair.
I twisted my hands together on top of the table and dropped my gaze to the chipped paint on my nails.
I probably should have repainted them...
"So..."
Stupidly, I didn't really even know how to broach the subject.
"So..?"
I looked quickly up to Blayze's face to see him raising a questioning eyebrow.
My cheeks warmed in an automatic blush.
"I uhh..."
Unable to maintain the eye contact, I dropped my gaze back to my chipped blue nail polish.
"I know."
What?
My heart seemed to stop.
I snapped my gaze up to Blayze's face, his expression practically unreadable.
My heart stuttered in my chest.
"You... what?"
I blinked.
He set his beer over to the side of the table and leaned forward, folding his arms loosely atop the square tabletop.
"I was wondering when you were gonna tell me."
He knows?
How?!
My throat felt dry.
I swallowed, clutching my hands together.
Why won't he show me how he feels about it then, if he knows?
Biting into my lower lip, I slowly lifted my gaze back up to peek at Blayze's face.
"How...?"
It would be bloody amazing if he'd tell me how the hell he knows!
I only found out a few hours ago.
Well, found out for sure.
A mischievous sparkle grew in his beautiful eyes and the corner of his lips twitched in the beginnings of a smile that told me I'd regret pushing for answers.
"Well for one, your sex drive lately has been pretty fucking amazing!"
He declared, wearing a full flown smirk.
What the hell?!
It felt like all my blood rushed straight to my face.
I threw my hands over my face and squeaked a noise of protest.
"Can you not?!"
I hissed.
I might be legal and we might be Engaged, but that doesn't mean I want to talk about our sex life, particularly outside the bedroom.
Blayze's laughter made me split my fingers to peek through their gaps.
"The biggest clue though, other than you ordering juice right now."
Blayze said as he relaxed back into his chair.
"Is that a little while before we left home Zuke brought me a present he'd found somewhere."
Present?
"What?"
I asked, letting my hands down from my face.
Blayze shrugged.
"A used pregnancy test."
A used-?
"But I binned them all!"
I yelped, my voice coming out squeaky.
"Then I guess he found- wait. All?"
Blayze blinked.
I waved a dismissive hand.
"I used like four to make sure I got an average reading."
"Oh."
Zuke was bin digging again.
Wonderful.
"God that Dog's a nuisance!"
I hissed.
"So when were ya gonna tell me?"
I sighed, my shoulders slumping.
"Tonight."
I gestured to the decorated table.
"Guess Zuke took care of that one though."
"There's something I don't get though."
Biting into my lower lip, I looked into Blayze's eyes as he cocked his head to he side, his expression curious.
Is he annoyed I didn't tell him already?
It's not my fault I wanted to try and make it a memorable moment.
And Zuke went bin diving and ruined it...
"What's that?"
I asked, sliding my hands onto my lap.
"There was this weird signal in the side of the screen."
Blayze explained, his brow creasing slightly.
"He didn't bring me the box and I wasn't about to go lookin' for it, so I guess if you tell me the brand it was then I can look it up and find out."
It didn't take a genius to work out what he was referring to.
All four tests had contained the same information.
The two lines that indicated 'positive', along with 5W1D and then a symbol on the side.
Chewing into my lower lip, I propped my elbows on the table and my chin atop my cupped together hands.
"I can tell you what that symbol means."
Though my heart was positively pounding.
The identify of that symbol was scaring the shit out of me.
"Well?"
Blayze asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Twins."
I whispered.
A shiver seemed to crawl down my spine once the one word jumped off my tongue.
Blayze looked like a Roo caught in the headlights, his blue-green eyes widening.
"Say something?"
I squeaked, clenching my hands together more tightly and my heart feeling like it was squeezing.
"Holy shit..."
He whispered.
Holy shit alright.
We live in a three bedroom home and we have a six month old Baby and Tameron comes to stay with us in the holidays.
Screwed was what we were.
An uncomfortable prickle grew in the backs of my eyes.
"Blayze are you mad? Happy? What?"
My traitorous voice would barely work.
My throat felt tight and my heart was pounding.
Blayze squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head.
Oh no...
He opened his eyes and gestured 'come here' wth a flick of his hand.
"C'mere."
He told me.
"Why?"
I asked, my voice coming out squeaky.
"Just do it."
Okay...
I shot a weary glance at the other Diner's at the cafe.
Habitually the place wasn't packed tonight.
Otherwise people would have overheard us and gossip would be spreading around town already.
I slowly eased out of my chair and made my way around to Blayze's side, my knees feeling like jelly.
It should have been easy to tell him about our second pregnancy.
Yet I was as nervous as last year when I'd told him about Luka.
He wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me onto his jeans clad lap, putting his other arm around me and pulling me into an embrace.
"Oh and Blayze?"
I asked, peeking at his face.
He raised his eyebrows at me questioningly.
I couldn't help but smile.
"Happy Birthday!"
He rolled his eyes, but a smile pulled at his lips and he squeezed me.
"You already said that this morning, but thanks Babe."
I sucked in a deep breath and rested my head against his shoulder.
Already his Birthday once again.
And I got to let him know on his Birthday that our little family is expanding!
"So... Luka gets a couple little Brother's..."
Blayze mused.
"So you're not mad?"
I questioned, tracing a finger across the firmness of his shirt covered chest.
"Of course not."
His words indicated he had no clue why I thought he would be.
He dropped a kiss on the top of my head and I sighed, closing my eyes.
"I just gotta work out where the hell we're meant to house everybody now..."
He mused.
Touché.
"I know."
I whispered.
"I kinda wasn't planning on it happening quite so soon."
Blayze said, gently rubbing a hand on my lower back.
Neither had I been.
"Well now it is."
I mused.
There wasn't much we could do about it now.
"Oh and there's a chance there's a Daughter slash Sister or two in there you know?"
I asked, peeking up at his face.
He groaned and tipped his head forward until his forehead rested on my shoulder.
I couldn't help but laugh!
I lifted my right arm and slipped it around his shoulders, pulling him into a hug.
"Guess we'd better get onto our Favourite Doctor and get everything checked out."
Blayze muttered.
Yep.
That was definitely the next step.
"Jump up for a sec."
Blayze requested, his hands moving to my hips.
"Why?"
I questioned, frowning at him.
"I need to get to my phone."
"What for?"
I asked, using his shoulders for balance as I found my feet.
He wriggled his phone free from his jeans pocket and began to immediately tap away at the screen.
As he did, he hooked an arm back around my waist and pulled me back onto his lap.
"What are you doing?"
I hissed when dial tone sounded and he put the mobile up against his ear.
"Good Evening, Currency Creek Hospital, how can I help you?"
A female voice sounded.
I widened my eyes.
"You can't call the hospital now!"
"I need to make an appointment with Doctor Legend."
Blayze explained, ignoring my statement.
Oh my god!
I couldn't quite hear what the woman replied with.
"A first scan for a pregnancy."
Blayze declared.
He sure doesn't waste time!
"It's for Bailey Harley."
Blayze explained.
"My name's Blayze Riley. He knows us."
He paused to listen.
"Yep."
He agreed.
"He can call my phone any time."
He declared.
"Righto. Cheers."
He pulled the phone from his ear and ended the call.
I raised my eyebrows, waiting for him to let me know what was going on.
"Doctor Legend will get the note and call me when he can see you."
He told me, setting his phone onto the table.
"You two look a bit cosy over here!"
Georgia wore a cheeky smile as she approached our table, notepad in hand.
I felt a blush warm my cheeks.
"Isn't that the point of these 'date night' things?"
Blayze retorted, mocking her for her earlier words.
Laughing, Georgia flipped her notepad open.
"What can we get ya both?"
Crap!
Food!
