"Mom, please answer me..." The fire surrounding us crackled. I desperately held onto my mothers lifeless body. "Please don't leave me like this.. You can't.." I sobbed as the flames got closer and closer.
Something came in and scooped me up, jumping out of the fire. I looked up at the tall figure. "Capricorn, you have to save mom!"
"I'm sorry, Lady Lucy. I must go, I no longer belong to mistress," he set me down out of the destruction.
"She's going to die, please save her!"
"Lucy, I'm sorry to say but she was already dead."
I stood, frozen in time. Everything in view was turning to ash, and she was in the middle of it all. A gust of air pushed me to the ground.
I looked up and realized that Capricorn had already vanished. More fire came raining from the sky. There. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. A boy and a dragon, burning the island.
"I think we got him," the boy cried in triumph. The dragon made a weird roaring sound. "They don't call me Natsu Dragoneel for nothing! Let's go home and celebrate. My first magic battle and we won!" They flew off into the distance. I watched until they were no longer visible, then turned back to the fire still engulfing the island.
'Mom.' I wiped my tears away and stood up, looking over everything. 'They will pay for this. I will avenge your death.' My hands clenched into fists and my lip trembled.
I turned away from the fire, and walked towards the shore. Boats filled with the Royal Army approached. 'Don't worry, mom.' One by one they jumped out and raced onto the island.
"Hey, there's a girl. Is she injured?" Gruff voices called out to one another. I collapsed, looking up at the sky. 'I will kill Natsu Dragoneel.' My eyes shut and everything turned black.
I faintly remember anything else that happened after that day. My father began to neglect me, nothing I did could please him. But I never blamed him once. If only I was strong then, I could maybe have saved her.
I trained everyday, following in her footsteps and becoming a celestial wizard. I don't remember exactly every detail, but I know I didn't give up.
And then one day, I was informed that my father had died. He had gotten very ill and couldn't hold on any longer. Stupid fool, all he cared about was his work anyway. 'If only Natsu hadn't come, then our family wouldn't have torn apart.' He was to blame for all of this, and that only made me train harder.
In this time, I learned about a guild named Fairy Tail. It sparked my interest and I came to want to be one of them, a strong wizard.
"Lady Lucy, isn't that enough training for today?" Capricorn stood worriedly behind me. Sweat dripped down my face and I was breathing heavily.
"No. I need to get stronger. For moms sake." He didn't say anything, he knew how I felt. He was her celestial spirit before the fateful day, and from there passed down to one of the servants. He was used for evil until I came and freed him.
"As you wish," he said, and led me to the next evil wizard in the area.
I gained a reputation in our small town. People began calling on me to defeat other evil forces and I became very popular. "She is definitely a Heartfilia. Never stops working, a spitting image of both her mother and father." I may be like them, but my determination is powered by a much bigger reason.
"Taurus," I screamed, opening his gate.
"Moo!" He yelled out and got into his battle position. He struck down the group with ease.
"Lucy, that's enough. You no longer have any magic energy, we will both be going back to the celestial world soon," Capricorn stated.
"Thank you guys for the help. I am going to work on my strength now, don't worry about me. I can handle it," I reassured them.
"Don't over work yourself," Taurus said as they both left.
I looked up at the sky. 'Your time is coming..' I began jogging in the direction of the house. 'Natsu.'
