Dragon Mate's Season

*Natsu's POV*

"Do we really have to go into the basement for the next few weeks?" I complained as Master herded the Slayers down stairs.

"Yes, you do. It's for the safety of Magnolia," he responded leading us down to a room of cells.

"Going to this length is really necessary?" Gajeel huffed, seeming fed up.

"I will do what ever it takes to keep everyone safe," Master's tone stayed neutral. "Sting, Rogue, you two can share the last cell on the right. Cobra and Laxus take the one opposite of them."

"Whoa, when did you three get here?" I asked.

"You idiot, they have been with us the whole time," Laxus pushed me as he passed by. Master locked the doors behind them.

"Gajeel and Natsu next to Sting and Rogue."

"I have to share with hot head?" Gajeel grumbled.

"Deal with it and just hurry up," Sting hung his arms through the iron bars. Gajeel gritted his teeth, but followed orders. The lock clicked.

"Wendy, you get a cell to yourself. I assume you are going to be the scariest," Master held the door open for her. He chuckled, "Imagine if the genders were switched, six girls and one guy. That would be literal hell." He locked the last door and left us in the dank basement.

"This sucks," I sat in the furthest corner of the cell, running my hand through my hair.

"I don't have to deal with this, I can just eat my way out," Gajeel was going to take a bite of the bars.

"Don't," Rogue stuck his hand through the cage, holding him back. "The bars are most likely infused with magic, if you try to escape you will just hurt yourself."

"Please remove your hand from my face."

"Wendy, you haven't said a word since we got down here," Laxus pointed out.

"What did Master mean by me being the scariest? I would never hurt anyone that meant something to me.." she babbled.

"Don't take any offense to it, girls are usually just more hostile when it comes to these sort of things, especially under these circumstances. You know, being a slayer and all," Sting rested his head against the wall.

"What about you, Cobra? What do you think about all of this?" I asked. He grunted, pulling his coat tighter around him.

"I wonder when these changes will start to occur, because I haven't felt anything different yet," Rogue sighed. "Will we even be able to sense these changes?"

"Don't worry, if you go crazy I will tell you," Sting laughed.

I laid out on the floor, pressing my back to the wall. I hope this season doesn't leave us off too bad. And Rogue is right, what if we don't even know we have started the season? What if no one could tell and just let us loose?

I hope Lucy will be ok.

"Get up, Salamander," Gajeel tapped my side with his foot. My eyes opened to darkness.

"What's going on?" I yawned, rubbing my eyes.

"Do you feel at all, different?"

"No, I'm really tired, what time is it anyway?"

"Eight a.m., you were the first person I was able to get up. The old man came down here fifteen minutes ago or so to assess any changes."

"Well, I feel the same as I did earlier," I sat up, my back cracking. "Except for the soreness from these cells we have been put in."

"Yeah, I would have expected at least something, seeing how urgent it was to put us in these hell holes," he punched a bar.

"Maybe they overshot the timing?"

"Well, Master said the girl's and Romeo have been moved over to the Saber tooth guild hall for the time being. I can't believe Levy is my mate of all people."

"I could have guessed that a mile away," Laxus awoke with a yawn. "You guys are all over each other."

"What about you and Mira?" Wendy joined, not opening her eyes.

"Do I have to get started with you and Romeo?" He snapped back, a little cranky.

"Ok, in my defense, I didn't even know dragon season was a thing."

"What about Lucy, huh?" Sting said, bringing the attention of the last sleeping slayers.

"I don't know, I mean I guess I've liked her, as a really close friend, but I never realized I would get to this point of being so close," my gaze was locked on the floor boards above us.

There was no noise coming from upstairs, none whatsoever. Where is everyone?

"You guys were an obvious couple from the beginning," Rogue clicked his tongue.

"Yeah, you guys are so adorable!" Wendy squealed.

"Sure." My ears strained to hear even the faintest thing.

"Salamander?"
