Date started/stopped: Feb 17th 2017

I stared down at her lifeless body, part ash, part sizzling flesh. The smell of burnt hair wafted through the air. Lips slightly parted, her eyes screamed for help. Pupils shrunk and glazed over. Clothed in a prom gown, now torn to shreds. What was left of it at least.

She looked to be about sixteen, maybe seventeen. Her life was taken too soon.

I clenched my teeth and slammed my hand on the chiefs desk. He lifted his head from a newspaper, surprise plastered on his face.

"I want to be put on the Strauss case," I stated.

He sighed, folding his paper and setting it on his desk. He intertwined his hands and leaned forward.

"Heartfilia, you know I can't do that. It's too dangerous, I can't send out one of our youngest officers into this big of a case," he said, his eyes soft.

"I can handle it, I've been training under my father for years."

"It is true that Jude Heartfilia was our best Officer, but I still can't allow you to join. You are too young to be risking your life on the most wanted criminal in Magnolia."

I huffed and stormed out of his office. Weaving around colleagues desks, I slumped down at mine. My computer monitor was on, displaying the police file about Lisanna Strauss. I bit my lip, tying my hair back and rereading the report for the third time today.

'Lisanna Strauss was found in front of Makarov's Magician Shop Tuesday morning, April 23, xxxx. She was on her way home from Fairy Tail High School's prom night, when she was assumed to be attacked. Makarov's Shop does not have a security camera, and the nearest traffic camera had some how shut off between 8:30 pm and 1:00 am. Her body had been set on fire, clothes shredded. Her handbag had been emptied out onto the side walk, all her cash, jewelry, and other valuables were nowhere to be seen.

"She (Strauss) was wearing diamond earrings and a golden necklace with a locket. Our parent's pictures are inside." ~ Mira Strauss, April 23, xxxx.

"I don't know anyone who would want to hurt Lisanna, she was friends with everyone." ~ Wendy Marvel, April 25, xxxx.

"I just want my sister (Strauss) to Rest In Peace. Whoever did this needs to be a man and confess." ~ Elfman Strauss, April 23, xxxx.

No finger or foot prints have been found at the scene. The shop has been closed until further notice.

Suspects:
• Natsu Dragneel"

Our suspect was the one and only, Natsu Dragneel. From what I know, he hasn't pulled something this drastic off. He is known for things along the lines of robbery and property damage, but not murder. The thing that points to him, though, is the fire. Every bank he has robbed, or building he has broken into, has had his name spelled out in fire. He's even set Magnolia Middle School's soccer fields on fire. It left the school in a lot of debt to replace the grass to proper condition.

Strauss was set on fire, Natsu is a fire freak, it wasn't hard to put two and two together. I want so badly to avenge Lisanna. She was way too young to have her life ended. And in such a way, it's unforgivable.

I typed Natsu Dragneel into the database. Nothing about his location or possible places were listed, only that he was last reported being seen walking around down town Magnolia. No one had checked out down town yet..

I could feel my feet beginning to itch.

"What are you doing, Heartfilia?" I jumped at Loke's voice. I exited out of the database and swiveled around to face him.

"Nothing important. What's up?" I asked, running my hand along my neck.

"Just checking up on my favorite undercover cop, making sure you aren't getting into anything troublesome. You know how you get," he smiled. Loke used to be one of the body guards for the Heartfilia's. My father hired him to protect us when one of the men he arrested escaped from prison. I basically grew up with Loke, he arrived when I was ten.

"I'm not doing anything, a little research is all."

"This research wouldn't be about a certain Strauss case, would it?"

"Definitely not." I couldn't think of anything else to say, and his unconvinced eyes didn't help the situation whatsoever. "Well, I got enough research for today, I think I'll head on home."

I brushed passed him and out of the station. My car was at the back of the parking lot, out of view of the main road. This wasn't the safest part of town, even though the station was right here. A lot of druggies have been arrested on this road, as well as a lot of deaths from drunk drivers. Over all, this city has gotten worse over the years.

With a click of the button on my key fob, I ducked into my car.

Down town Magnolia...

No. Chief told you to stay out, so don't get involved.

I pulled out of the parking lot and headed for my apartment.

End.
