Chapter 23

"Wow this place is beautiful," I looked out of the carriage in awe.

"Welcome to Crocus," Natsu leaned over me.

"So this is where the Grand Magic Games are held.. I wonder if I could meet the princess. My parents knew the Royal family well, but I never got to meet them."

"That's cool, maybe she will make an appearance at the games."

"I'm so excited," I giggled, bouncing in my seat.

"Keep your excitement for the actual game," Laxus laughed at me.

"This is my first time doing this, I can't wait!"

"Well, first day starts tomorrow, so you'll have to wait until then."

"I can't wait to beat the crap out of Sting," Natsu slammed his fist into his palm.

"No, I called dibs already," I whined.

"We will see who he is up against, you can't just choose your opponent."

"Hmph," we both pouted.

The carriage came to a stop in front of the place we were staying at. I dove out of the vehicle, and realized something. "Wait, Natsu, how are you not sick?"

"Wendy used her magic so I wouldn't get car sick, it only lasts for a little bit but it was fine for the ride down here. Hopefully it will be the same when we go back."

"Oh." We walked into the apartment- like room that had five beds, two up against one wall, three against the other. "Gildarts is the most mature out of the rest of you so we are sleeping on the side with two."

"Fine by me," Laxus flopped onto one of the three beds.

"Good. Now it's almost ten pm, so I'm going to get some sleep."

"Nah, you should wait," Gajeel said, looking around the kitchen.

"Why?"

"They usually have a pre game to get the number of teams down to eight. Every year it's the same teams though, these are the most powerful guilds in the area."

"What if it changes?"

"Most likely won't."

"Fine." I summoned Plue and played with him for a while until an announcement went throughout the whole city.

"This year, the teams have already been selected. The past few days we had the people vote for who they wanted to see, and we have narrowed it down to seven teams."

"Seven?" I looked over at Gajeel who just shrugged.

"The first team, the one most voted for, is Fairy Tail A." We gave out a few whoops. "The second team is Sabertooth, the third is Lamia Scale. Fourth is Fairy Tail B, fifth is Mermaid Heel. Sixth is Blue Pegasus and seventh is Quatro Cerberus."

"Yep, all the same except Sabertooth usually has two teams also.."

"This should be fun," I rubbed my hands together.

"Get some sleep, teams. The games start tomorrow at 9:30, see you all there," the announcer stopped.

"Goodnight," I instantly pulled the covers up over my face and fell asleep.

I was the first one up the next morning, it was 5:30. Don't ask me why I was awake, I was just so excited. I took a quick shower and made breakfast before anyone woke up.

"Guess I'm eating by myself," I looked at the clock and it read 6:48. "Maybe I should wake them up soon.."

"Morning, Blonde," Laxus had already bathed.

"Whoa, when did you get up?" I was surprised to see him up.

"You take really loud showers, let's just leave it at that."

"Well, help yourself," I motioned to the plates of food on the counter.

"I didn't know you could cook."

"Yep, I may not be the best but I can make simple things."

"Pretty good," he took a bite of toast.

A few hours passed, everyone has awoken and we were at the Domus Flau. The same announcer from last night spoke again, announcing the teams from least amount of votes to most. We walked out and the crowd went wild. I waved at everyone and sent out peace signs.

"Hey Sting, Rouge," I greeted the two as the teams gathered. Sting flung his arms around me, receiving a gasp from the people watching.

A new announcer came in,"Is there something going on between Fairy Tail's Lucy Heartfilia and Sabertooth's Sting Eucliffe?!"

"No!" I screamed, pushing Sting away.

"Come on, they are loving it," he grinned at me.

"I think I will have to pass, plus I don't want to beat my 'boyfriend' in one of the matches."

"Like you could beat me."

"Want to try me?"

"Ok, settle down," Gildarts pulled me back.

"Looks like things are already getting heated up, this seems to be a good year. Will new comer Lucy turn the tables?"

"You bet I will," I mumbled to myself.

"Let the games begin!"
