Chapter 14
I walked out of the room, tears still visible. I grabbed Carly's hand as she cried and grabbed onto it.
"Hey. Hey." I said choking little from the tears.
I bend down and grabbed her shoulders like what Jenny did to me.
I wiped her tears.
"Carly, moms gonna make it through this world. I hope." I mumbled the last word to myself.
She nodded.
"Mom is a survivor. I know it. She will make it, she will, she's gonna make it." Carly repeated the words over and over again to herself.
"Yea she is Carly."
I gave her a hopeful smile. She just frowned as she wiped her tears with the side of her hand.
I grabbed her as she hung onto my side, walking through the hospital halls. I looked at one door to see a man coughing hard and breathing heavily.
I frowned as I shook my head and keep walking with Carly. I had to make it for Carly... For mom.
I saw Tyler standing there, his hands inside his pockets. He looked at everybody running around everywhere trying to save lives. His head turned to our direction as I nod my head, falling down sadly. He comes running as his chest runs into mine and his arms wrap around me. I wrap my arms around him the same as I cry slightly into him.
I didn't really care at the moment. This my mother. She's sick and she might die from it. He looks at me and my sister sad as he picks up Carly. I lick my dry lips and close my eyes. Jenny comes in and looks at Tyler.
"Excuse me, but who are you?" She asks.
"Um I'm Helena's friend Tyler."
They shake hands as she looks at me and my sister.
"Let's go home."
She grabs Carly from Tyler's arms as she says a thanks to him and he nods.
"Can Tyler stay?" I ask.
He looks at me giving me a "no, go with your family" look as Jenny gives me a look of curiosity.
"Sure. That's fine." She smiles as she rubs Carly's back. We go into the car as she puts Carly in my lap. I run my fingers through her hair over and over as she slightly falls asleep. The whole car ride, Tyler holds me hand as little sparks come up my arms. The whole car ride was silent. Sometimes Jenny and Tyler would talk about things. My head was against his as I held Carly.
We finally got back to the house as I held Carly.
"No, I'll take her to her room." Jenny says.
"No. I'll do it. It's fine." I said as I walk but she stops me.
"Please Helena. You been through enough today. Let me." She says as she looks at me sternly. I sigh as I give Carly to her. I run to my room and take off my jacket.
"Helena, everything's gonna be fine." Tyler said as he placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Everybody keeps telling me that! It's not! My mother is sick and dying! Everything is not fine!" I yell.
I was fed up with everybody saying she going to be fine crap. I honestly tell myself that everyday, but I think again what if it's not. I'm trying to be positive. I just can't. He hugs me again as we stay there a while.
"Can you stay tonight please?" I asked.
I can feel him slightly smile.
"Why?" He asks.
"I feel safe with you always." I look in his eyes and smile as he does too.
"Fine, but you owe me." He says pointing at me.
"What! Why?" I asked confused.
"You stay at my house next week." He sends me a cheeky smile as I punch his arm.
"Fine. But is there gonna be candy?" I ask happily.
"Sure, why not."
I cheer as he laughs.
"Come on. You should go to sleep."
"No!" I whine.
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Is this just like what were doing in class." I said remembering the memory. It was the day he asks me to the party.
"Sweet old good days." He says smiling and I laugh.
I take the small cute teddy bear he gave me that day and hold it up.
"Mr. Cuddles remembered too." I said as he looks at me.
"You still have it?" He whispers slightly surprised that I still had it.
"Why wouldn't i?"
"No. It's just that I got that from the 99 cent store."
I gasp as I fall onto the bed as he laughs. I throw the bear at him, but he catches it.
"No fair." I mumble as he chuckled.
I play with my hands as he brushed the side of my hair. It sends me shivers down my spine as I slightly move.
"Why do you care so much?" I whisper in a low soft voice.
"What?"
"Why do you care?!" I said louder.
He looks a me for a few seconds before looking at the wall.
"You mean so much to me. That's why."
"But why? I mean your always there with me by my side. Why? I don't think anyone would do this-"
"Yes they would! I mean your a beautiful woman who has so much to live for. Her life may be crap, but she keeps the smile in her face."
He says looking at me.
I nod my head as my tongue slid across the inside of my mouth.
"She may seem happy, but her smile hides the darkest deep secrets."
There was silence after that. We just lay in the bed, his arms around me as we cuddle.
