Chapter 62
"Huh? What is it?" I asked Jen who was fiddling with her thumbs. "It's about..your mom." She said as my eyes got sad.
I felt a tug on my hand as I looked up at Tyler who was already looking down at me with a sympathy look. "You know how I was ordering her funeral at Saint Mows right?" I nodded. "Okay..so?" My heart was beating fast, what's wrong? What's going on? I don't understand at all!
"Well Jasmine is helping me at the spot, she works for her boss who is the undertaker and she's trying to-"
"Woah woah! Helping me at that spot?!" She sighed.
"Look Helena..yes- I called in already and she said I was the first to order so I had it-"
"Had it?!" Tell me that this dosn't mean...
"Stop cutting me off Helena! Another lady got the spot since she cashed in more money for that place and her boss let her take the spot since he wanted the money. Me and Jasmine are trying to work on it so we can have the spot back." My eyes widened. This wasn't happening! I already didn't have a good day!
"Why can't you say you had it first, you had it anyway! Plus isn't there more time I mean-"
Jen placed her hand on my shoulder as she rubbed it, I sighed and closed my eyes.
"I know Helena. I'm mad too trust me, everyone is. But were trying. I need that money fast since um the lady is already making plans for that spot."
I hugged myself, I didn't want to yell anymore, I was tired of it. I was tired of this.
"How- how much?" I asked. Her eyes widened as she looked at Tyler who nodded at her slowly.
"What- what?!"
"How much!" I said quickly.
She bit her lip as she sighed, "$4,275 but I paid only $1,374. Jasmine put a hundred for my helping so now it's..$1,474."
I glared at the ground, "That's not enough." I whispered.
She shrugged, "I'll try to do my best ..for you and your sister, for Clarissa. But you know if I can't...I can't. It's done." She said as she sadly shook her head. My eyes widened. "Maybe I could continue working at that shop-" she shook her head.
"The couple are on a vacation for about two months so the shop is closed until now. Plus somebody is fixing the place." I let out a frustrated sigh. "I could work um-"
"Babysitting." Somebody else answered. I raised a brow as we all turned around to see Chris standing there. He looked at Jen then to me. "You could babysit Mason for me and I'll pay you. Also my ex- wife. She has a meeting like half of the time in afternoon so she'll be grateful for that." I let out a grateful sigh of my own. "Thank you." Jen smiled towards Chris. They nodded at each other, I smiled. "Wait does my father know?" I suddenly asked as I turned back to Jen who pursed her lips.
"Haha..no." She said as her lips pressed together.
"Wait till he finds out." I mumbled as Jen nodded agreeing, Tyler let out a low whistle. I hit his arm as he held it with a frown on his face.
"You could actually start the babysitting right now." He said as he checked his watch. Chris said as he looked towards me. I smiled. "Really?!" He nodded.
"Yes, I need to talk to Jen. Maybe we could go out for a bite?" He asked her as she blushed and nodded. "Um- sure." I winked at her as she took his hand as they walked away.
"Yes, we could um...babysit?" Tyler mocked Chris as he stuck out his hand with his eyes brow raised. I laughed. "Let's do this"! I grabbed onto his hand as I followed him into the living room. The two kids looked up from the tv as they watched us. "Where's my dad?" Mason asked as he looked around. "Where's Jen?" Carly looked over our shoulder. "They went out to eat for a while. They will come back though". I answered.
