Chapter 13

It has been a week since I heard the news of my mother. I have been taking good care of her. I told my friends and they were sad about it. They knew my mother wasn't the best mom she could be, but hey, she did pretty darn good. I have been wearing the clothes Brittney got me and it was just like me. I have boys on me now , but Brittney said I always had boys on me. Did I? Brittney and my friends have gotten pretty close lately too. Were all hanging out with each other. Speaking of Britney she has some game going on with Allie. I still don't know what happened to Allie. She was a geek now she turned into some miss slut popularity. And she wants it bad. Me and Tyler have been getting really close now. It's great to have him around. And when he is, I get butterflies in my stomach and I blush a lot! He knows about my mom and he helps out too. He has been getting really close to them. Tyler said that Allie kissed him at the party. I hate her even more now. I agreed to Brittney's plan, but not to bring her down. To help her,give her ideas. Anyway today was the day we tell Carly about momma. To tell you I was really nervous.
"Were you listening to what I'm saying." Layla waved her hand in front of my face.
"What! W-"
"Ms. Green! Would you like to share to the class what you did on your report?!" Mr. Zeeman said or yelled while the class looked at me.
"Well you know I just read the book and put in some facts and the main idea about it." I said as the class snickered it chuckled.
"Very funny Ms. Green! No! I mean read it!" He said as he pressed his foot down on the floor.
I smiled nervously and coughed under my breath.
"I rather not. I'm still working on it."
"So the class can help you! This is so perfect! Read what you got!"
I looked at my friends for help but they nodded their head and looked down.
Huh! Rude!
"Fine." I huffed as I began to read.
"Scientific h-"
The door opened to see Ms. Marvin
She was the best in the office downstairs.
"Sorry to interrupt but I need Ms. Green. She is dismissed." She said kindly as he groaned.
Yep I hate you too Mr. Zeeman.
I happily grabbed my book bag and I looked at my friends which were confused.
"Why am I dismissed?" I asked as we started walking.
"You got a call saying that you needed to go to your house very quickly." She smiled as she patted my back.
"I hope to see you too Lena." Yep she calls me by my nickname. Well that's hers for me. I got my phone out and called the house as I started to walk.
"Hello?" A voice said.
I knew that voice!
"Jenny!"
"Helena you need to come like now!"
"Why? I'm on my way!"
"Helena just come!" She yelled as she hung up.
I huffed as I ran all the way to the house. Did I tell you that Jenny's mom was a police? No? Well you know now.
I ran my hands through my pockets as I finally found my keys. I opened the door and busted in as hair flew to my face. Jenny was there with a worried look.
"Jenny what's happening?"
"It's your mom!"
Those words stopped my heart.
"She went to the hospital with my mom. She's ok but she looks worser." Jen said with a frown.
I sat down on the couch as I just stayed there. Looking into space. I tired to blink the tears away.
"Helena? You ok?"
"NO IM NOT OKAY!" I shouted making her stumble.
"I'm stressed and my mom- oh god! What do I do?" I said as I ran a hand through my hair.
"HELENA!" She yells as she pushes my shoulders so I could look at her.
"Your mom is strong. She will make it. She's been through so much worser. She will make it and watch her come back strong. You.. You gotta watch your sister and your mother. Take care of them as much as you can. You got this Helena." She says as I nod.
She hugs me as I hug her back.
The question is. Will she be able to?

Jenny says that my mother is doing fine and she looks a little better. A little. I wasn't able to visit her cause Jenny said that I had to take care of Carly. I know I do but she's my mom. I can't just stand here and watch her die!
"Helena! Tyler is here!" She giggled as my thoughts were pulled behind.
"He is?" I ask happily.
"Yep." A deep husky voice says near my ear.
I jump high as they both laugh.
"Nice one." Carly says as she high fives Tyler.
"Yea. Way to say hello." I mumble.
"Aww. Helena did I really scare you?"
He asks as he smiled.
I smiled back as I pick up Carly.
"Hey!" She wines.
"Sorry but the monster is here to eat you up!" I point to Tyler as me and my sister laughs.
"Guys come on. You know I don't like to chase people." He whines.
"You don't?" I ask.
"No, oh I do." He begins to run as I scream and run with Carly in my arms.
"Come back here!" Tyler says in a deep voice.
I laugh as I go into Carly's room and hid behind the bed.
"Shhh." I whisper to her as I put my finger to my mouth.
She nods but does a tiny giggle. I did a face as her hair tickles my face.
"Carly your hair. I'm gonna-"
Too late I sneezed. Carly does a "were in trouble" face as I'm grabbed.
I scream I'm being lifted in the air.
Carly laughs as she falls on her back laughing so much. I just had to smile at that.
Tyler laughs as he spins me around.
"Carly run!" I yell as she begins running into her hiding spot.
The secret closet.
It's a closet covered by pictures. You gotta push the door in order to open it.
"You'll never find her!" I yell as he laughs.
"Come on." He motions me to get on his back which I obey.
I cheer as we run through the halls.
"Go!" I shout as he laughs.
"You sure you can carry me cause I'm too heavy."
He stops. I don't know what face he makes since his hair is in the way and I'm on top of his shoulders.
"No. Your not heavy, your perfect."
I smile as we try to find her.
"Carly stay where you are!" I yell as Tyler gasps.
"You know where she is?" He asks as I nod.
"It's the hardest spot in the house."
I smiled. He puts me down.
"Where is she?" He asks as nod my head.
"Sorry can't-"
I'm in the floor laughing cause I'm begun to br tickled by Tyler.
"Stop- stop- that tickles!" I say between my laughs as he laughs with me.
"Tell me!" He shouts.
"Never!"
He tickles me more as I laugh.
"Fine- ill tel you- if you stop!" I give up.
He stops tickling me as he smiles since he knew he won this.
I try to catch my breath as he waits.
"Ok. She's in that closet." I point to the pictures as he looks confused.
"There just pictures." He states.
"No smart one."
"Smart ass." He mumbled as I hit his foot.
"Push it." I say.
He looks at me confused but does it anyway.
The door opens as he pushes it. His eyes widened as he looks inside.
"It's-"
"Beautiful right?" I cut him off as he smiled.
"It's our best mermory a here."
This closet was kinda like a basement but with toys, pictures, more toys, and other stuff that we use to play with as a kid.
"So this is your memory stuff?" He asks.
"Yep. It's the good things."
He touches pictures as he looks through them.
"Is that your-"
"Dad. Yea."
"You need to stop cutting me off."
I laugh but it fades as I look at the picture.
"Yea I'm sorry." He says.
Yea he knew about my dad. He basically knew everything. We told our secrets together.
"Boo!" Carly shouts as we both scream.
I forgot she was hiding here.
I stumble as arms catch me. I look up to see the brightest blue eyes looking at me.
"You alright?" He asks.
"Yea." It nearly made it out as a whisper.
Carly smiles looking between us.
"Let's get you to your bed." I said as Tyler picks her up.
"That's not fair!"
"Come on! You need rest to play more games like this." Tyler says as I nod.
Her eyes widened as she gets off of Tyler and runs into her room.
I laugh as I nod my head and chase after her.
"Good night." I say as I kiss her head.
"Will mom be ok?" She asks.
We still haven't told her yet but me and mom are planning to when we visit her today.
"I don't know babe. I hope so." I say to her. But to myself too.
She closes her eyes as I sigh.
Will everything be alright?
Tyler comes in and hugs me from behind as I rest my head in his chest.
"Everything is gonna be fine." He whispers in my ear as I shiver.
His touch was warm and nice.
We stayed there in silence. Not awkward silence but comfortable silence. I tilt my head so I could see him. We stare at each other for a while.
He had nice eyes. His smile is bright and big that it makes you smile. Everything about him is perfect. Wait! Were leaning in until...
My phone rings!!!
I groan as I pull it out and answer it.
"Hello!?" I say angry.
"Your mom wants to talk to you."

The three of us rush in the emergency room as I feel my heart pumping in my chest. Me and Tyler almost kissed and then Jenny calls saying my mother wants to see us. They lead us to my mothers room and she wishes us luck. Me, Tyler, and Carly smile as I see my mother. I put my hand to my mouth. She is looking pretty pale and she seems a little thin.
"Helena baby." Mother takes my hand and squeezes it, but gasped as Carly comes out behind tall Tyler.
Mom has tears in her eyes as she looks at Carly. She then looks at Tyler.
She gestured him to come to her side as he does. He bends down as she whispers something in his ear. I can't hear what there saying. What are they saying? They both smile at each other and he nods.
"I will." I hear him whisper.
He walks out if the room as I stand there looking dazed.
What was that about? Carly runs to her mom as they hug. Mom smiles then open her eyes as they look up at me.
I take Carly's shoulder as she stands in front of me, my hands still on it.
"Mom your gonna be alright! You just have the flu." Carly says.
Tears form in my eyes as my lip quivers. I wish It was the flu, I wish.
Moms tears starts flowing down her cheeks as her green eyes filled with sadness.
"Carly come here." Moms finger motioned Carly to come.
Carly steps closer to her as she looks at mom.
"Honey, I love you so, so much. Your so strong and brave. I love you so much, my little brave girl." She says.
She looks at me.
"Helena take care of this family."
She looks at Carly.
"Take care. Go to school and please promise me that you will make the best choices in your life. Take care of this broken family and fix it." Mother says as she fixed her eyes on me.
I think for a moment before relaying
"Yes."
"I love you." She smiled as more tears come.
I wipe my eye as I feel one tear drop on my left eye.
"Mommy. What's going on? I'm scared." Carly starts crying as mom held on to her hand.
"Carly. Mommy is sick. She isn't healthy at the moment. Mommy needs to stay here until she is healthy again. "
"why?" Carly asks.
That's it. Tears flow down my face and I put my hand over my mouth. I close my eyes as we wait for her reply.
"Baby, this sickness can kill me."
She finally says after a moment of silence.
Carly nods her head.
"Mommy- no I need you- mom you can't die!" She says between tear after tear.
"I know but hey. If I do die that dosn't mean I'm still with you. It means that I'm not gonna be in this world. It's another world filled with happiness and peace." She says as she sobs.
"Is it... Heaven?" Carly asks.
"It is. It is." She repeats and Carly hugs her.
I join in the hug.
"I love you girls. Stay strong for me ok? You gotta stay strong for me." She says as we all sob into each other.
