In The Sun

They sat with four coffees and four breakfast pastries between them.

She had walked up to him and put her arms around his waist, carefully, as she had the hot coffees in her hands, and leaned her cheek against the top of his chest, closing her eyes against the morning sun. He was warm, and she could feel his chest rising and falling as he sighed and rested his lips against her hair.

She turned her face up to look at him, and he peeked down at her through his fine eyelashes, a smile on his lips.

"You look well rested," she murmured, a crinkle at the corner of her eye as she smiled wistfully at him.

"A lot happened last night," he said, letting go of her and looking down at the coffees they held. He ushered her to the nearest park bench and they shooed off some cats to sit down.

He looked around, noticing that there were more cats huddled together against the cold, basking in the sun. Looking the other way, he saw more cats.

"Is this a cat park?" He asked. She looked at him and laughed at the wonderment on his face.

"It might as well be, they seem to gather here. Be careful, they're gangsters," she smiled. She saw more and more people were starting to traverse the park paths to get from one street to the other, mostly crossing towards Syntagma.

A man was walking slowly up the path, his movements careful and neat, as if he was trying not to draw attention to himself. Siana noticed his clothes, although neat and clean, were worn and carried a thin sheen of old grime.

Seeing another harried businessman walking past the man, she quickly grabbed a pastry and a coffee and stood up, approaching the businessman first. He waved her out of the way before she could say anything, so she turned to the man next, holding out the coffee.

"We have too much. It will go to waste, please take it," she said with a smile. When he reached out for it, she thanked him and went back to sit down, smiling at Taekwoon. The man walked on a little, sitting at the next bench to enjoy his surprise breakfast.

"Now we have just enough!" she beamed at him, picking up a danish and taking a bite. She pushed the other two pastries towards him.

Leo, who had been watching the exchange, took a sip of coffee and watched her munching happily on her food.

"Don't you ever get sad?" He asked.

"Of course I do, all the time. I think I am always sad," she said as she smacked her lips over the filling in her pastry.

He laughed.

"Are you sad right now?"

"Yes!" she said cheerily, looking at him. "So sad my heart is bursting with it!"

He shook his head, smiling.

"I can't say why but I believe you," he murmured. She took a sip of her coffee, washing down her mouthful with it.

"You listening to your heart, like all the songs say? Believing something you can't even explain?" She snorted as she took another bite of her pastry.

"It's easier than I thought it would be," he said.

"What, blind trust?" her eyes were twinkling as she looked at him with a crooked smile.

"Is that what it's called?" he asked, feeling a kind of pleasure settle into his bones. He relaxed against the hard bench arm, looking like one of the cats lounging in the sun, except more upright, and more idol-ly.

"Yeah I guess," she looked at him with curiosity. "Is that why you are so relaxed this morning? I thought you would be in trouble."

He smiled, closing his eyes and turning his face up to the sun.
