Min let the hotel door shut by itself as she wheeled her cabin bag into the room and kicked off her shoes. She was in her flight attendant's uniform, which was comfortable enough to wear. Even the pantyhose was alright in the air-conditioned, temperature-controlled flight cabin.
But after almost twelve hours on a non-stop flight, she felt the grime of a few hundred people's living all over her, and couldn't wait to have a shower and launder her outfit.
She took out her phone and sent a quick message to Siana, who was already in Athens and on the way to the hotel. She quickly stripped and got into the shower, letting the hot water seep warmth into her cold toes. As much as Siana loved the cold, Min hated it. She hated feeling like she was a pile of dry skin over dry bones wrapped too tightly in clothes that weren't wind-proof enough.
The shower made enough of an impact on her body to make her feel a little more comfortable, and by the time she left the bathroom, her room had heated enough for her to walk around comfortably in her towel.
She quickly changed into leggings, a pair of fleece-lined cargo pants and two layers of soft stretchy tops before blowdrying her hair. As she softly scrunched her curly hair, feeling comforted by the scorching heat from the dryer, she heard the doorbell chime.
With a yelp, she ran to answer the door, her excitement making her fumble over the door handle.
She opened to find Siana jumping up and down in little tight hops outside, her hands up in the air, pumping them cutely in a welcoming cheer.
They hollered so loudly at each other they collapsed into giggles as they hugged each other.
"Siannnnaaaaaa!"
"MIIIIN!!"
"Oh my god, girl you look great!" Min pulled back to look down at the girl who, just two weeks ago had been looking tired and lifeless and thin when she had boarded the flight to Athens. Now she looked well-fed, a little pale from the winter, but with cheeks glowing and eyes shining.
"You look hot." Siana laughed as she turned to drag her duffle bag into the room. "Positively buxom."
Min turned to look in the mirror at her chest as Siana walked through to find a place for her bag. Her two tops seemed to accentuate rather than downplay her full breasts, and her tiny waist seemed even tinier in contrast to the slightly baggy cargo pants which hung off her hips and butt.
"Too much?" she asked.
Siana flipped her hair out of her face after putting the bag out of the way and gave Min a surprised look.
"You're in Greece, Min."
They nodded at each other sagely for a moment before Min giggled.
"So are we going for some makan? Do you want to go out? Can we go to that club we found last year?" Min tousled her hair again, which was still slightly damp.
Siana paused at Min's use of the malay word for eating, or food. She remembered she still hadn't called her mum to tell her about Leo, and had a brief thought about where she would take him for makan if he ever visited her at home.
"Definitely makan, definitely go out! But I wana shower first, it's been a long trip. I'll be quick!" she rifled through her bag as Min nodded and went back to the hairdryer to continue drying her hair.
Siana showered quickly and put on a pair of skinny jeans, a body tank and an oversized white shirt. She put on socks and started pulling on a tatted pair of converse sneakers.
Min yelped and stopped the hairdryer.
"Tell me you're not going out in those!"
"I'm not going out in those," Siana intoned, as she continued lacing them up.
Min scurried towards her, looking down at the shoes in horror.
"No. No, no, no! I flew all the way from Malaysia with a bunch of business class hyenas to see you! I am NOT going out with you looking like a street urchin in those raggedy things-"
"Why not? GD does it!" Siana laughed.
"Yes but his are neon, gold-encrusted ones that he will auction off one day to pay for his mama's new car, baby," Min looked down at Siana with such a look of pity that Siana started giggling, leaning back against the chair she was in. Min went to the wardrobe and opened it to pull out something.
"Those things are gross. Take them off, put these on," she said, holding out a pair of strappy black heels. They were pin-pointy heels about six inches long, with a small ankle strap and a wider strap across the toe. Siana rolled her eyes.
"Those are health hazards. Besides, I wouldn't be able to walk by the end of the night!"
"That's what taxis are for, and cute young gentlemen who might offer to carry you home," Min said, waggling her eyebrows at Siana. Siana scoffed as she looked down at her feet.
"Ooo, this is different. No blushing. No giggling over the possibility," Min approached with her lips pursed, holding the heels hanging from her finger. Siana looked up at her with a small smile.
"What's happened, Siana? SPILL."
