beg0neth0t as The Doctor
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here we are. So close to present time. Only a few hours or so away from it actually.
Y/n has been living with Mark for about a year now and loves the time that her, him, and Jack spend together.
She's also been going for her dream to help others. Y/n is in training to be a nurse/doctor for those who cannot afford one.
Y/n's POV
(Nineteen, Almost Twenty, Years Old)
"So to draw blood you either put the needle in this part of the hand or this part of the arm." I nod.
"If you try and draw from another place then.....well actually I'm not so sure what'll happen but I bet it's not good."
We both laugh.
"How do you not know what will happen? You've only been a doctor since forever!" I chuckle.
"Because the person who never taught me didn't know either." This causes me to laugh harder.
"Who knew doctors were so uneducated." I say while wiping away a few stray tears.
"Yeah. We don't know nearly as much as we should." I raise my eyebrow.
"What do you mean?" I ask, slightly confused.
"Nothing. Now back onto the lesson. Never use the same needle twice." The doctor tells me.
"Why not?" I smirk knowing that I'll get back a funny answer.
"Cause that's nas-tay!" We laugh again.
She then drops the needle into a red trash can.
"I gotta say Y/n; you're the best person I've had to train in a while." Her comment causes me to smile brightly.
"Why is that?" I ask, super curious.
"Most people here in the systems don't seem to have a sense of humor. It's not really all their faults though. Some have been through some tough times and don't really know what it's like to joke around." I nod.
"If my mom never knew my best friend's mom, then I probably wouldn't have such a humorous bone." I say while nudging her with my elbow.
"God, why?" She sighs while facepalming.
"Because you love me." I tell her while batting my eyelashes.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." She smiles and the door to the room we're in opens.
"Doctor?" A quiet, but very high pitched voice, calls out.
"Yes Hannah?" The doctor asks.
"You have a patient." The doctors eyes light up.
"Let them in!" She cheerfully says as Hannah smiles and leaves the room.
It doesn't take long for the door to reopen and a little girl to walk inside.
"Hello sweety." The doctor kneels down to the girls height.
"Where are your Mommy and Daddy?" She asks.
"Um, I'm actually from The Crages." The girl almost whispers.
"That's okay. What's the reason you can't here for?" She asks.
The girls then lefts up her torn sleeve to reveal what almost looks like teeth marks from a large animal.
"What did that to you?" I ask in a very calm tone.
"One of the protectors guard dogs." The doctor and I glance at each other for a moment with a look of confusion super glued to our faces.
"Why did the dog attack you?" She asks.
"The protector thought I was about to steal something from the market when I was going to buy something with the few coins a lady had given me." The girl sniffs.
"Why don't you come sit on this table so we can get you fixed up, okay?" Doctor asks.
"Okay." The girl wipes away a tear before the Doctor picks her up and places her on the table.
"Y/n, you get her cleaned up while I go grab a needle with thread." I nod as she walks out the room.
The Doctor can get pretty serious when someone is injured.
"What's your name sweety?" I ask while inspecting her wound.
"Nevaeh." She tells me.
"Well Nevaeh, did you know that your name backwards says heaven?" I ask while smiling.
She shakes her head while a small smile creeps into her small face.
"Do you have any siblings?" She shakes her head.
"No, but I have a really close friend at The Crages who is like a big sister to me." She tells me.
"She must be super kind then."
Nevaeh nods her head really fast.
"June is the nicest! Sometimes when she gets candy she'll give me a piece." Her voice is no longer quiet and scared sounding, it's more excited and happy as she talks about this June.
As I'm looking at her wound I see it's already a bit infected so I'll have to use some Anti-septic on it. Reaching over to another table I grab a small cloth and the tiny bottle of Anti-septic.
"This is gonna sting a bit." I warn her while unscrewing the cap and putting the cloth over the top. I then turn it upside down for a split second to get some of the liquid on the cloth.
"But it's going to keep your
boo-boo from getting worse." She nods with slight fear in her eyes.
I then begin to wipe the cloth over her wound. Nevaeh flinches and winces.
"All done!" I say while throwing the cloth into the red trashcan.
"Have you cleaned the wound?" The Doctor asks while walking back into the room.
"Yes, and I had to use a touch of the Anti-septic because it had already started to get infected." She nods.
"Would you please put some of the numbing stuff on her arm. I need to stitch it up."
Without hesitation I take another cloth and put some of the numbing liquid on it. I then wipe that over her wound causing her the flinch again.
"Now sweety, for it to get better we have to stitch it. You won't feel a thing though because we made your arm like.....jelly!" She smiles at the small girl.
"And when we're done maybe we can go get you some candy and walk you back to The Crages." Nevaeh smiles back and nods.
"Could we get some candy for June too?" She asks.
"Of course we can!" I tell her and the Doctor begins to stitch her wound.
