Y/n's POV
"Wake up." A gruff voice commands.
I hesitate before opening my eyes.
I'm met with a man in a Protectors uniform.
"Was there really need to tie her up?" He mumbles to himself as he goes behind me.
What's happening?
Slowly I feel release from my legs and then from my wrists.
Looking down, I've been untied.
"Let's go." The man says as he heads out the cell.
Cautiously, I stand from the chair.
My legs wobble a bit and I almost fall over.
"Easy there."
The man grabs hold of my arm to steady me.
"Thanks."
Suddenly my arm heats up and the Protector pulls his hand away.
He gives me an odd look before once again heading out the cell.
I follow the man out and down the winding hall.
I hope Dark and Anti were able to follow.
I don't want anyone to die today except for Moskoff.
I pray that Mark is alive and won't be killed along with whoever else he's planning to slaughter.
I begin to worry until I remember that Moskoff always tried to get Mark to be a Protector.
He'll probably try and force him to become a Protector.
I frown.
"Pay attention." The Protector tells me.
I shake myself out of the trance I was in and start up the stairs along side him.
"Why are you doing this?" I ask.
He stops.
"Because I have a family to feed." He says without looking back at me.
After a long time of walking we make it to the top of the staircase.
There sits a large iron door that probably weights a couple hundred pounds.
The Protector opens up the door like it weights nothing and holds it open for me.
"Thank you." I say as I walk out.
The second the light hits my eyes, I throw my head back and cover them.
As I'm trying to recover from the blinding light, I feel him grab my hands and put them behind my back.
Something then bounds them together.
"Keep forward."
My eyes get use to the light and I walk down the long corridor in front of me.
Come on Dark.
I need you to be here right now.
We continue to walk until the place begins to feel familiar.
My eyes widen as I see a picture on the wall.
It's of the Doctor.
Immediately I stop in my tracks and stare at the photo.
I think I'm gonna cry.
"Keep moving!" The Protector shouts at me. "We have to get you a check up and cleaned up before the ceremony."
A check up.
We make a right and I see it.
In front of us is a wooden door with our names carved into a fake golden plate.
𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓓𝓸𝓬𝓽𝓸𝓻 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓓𝓸𝓬𝓽𝓸𝓻 𝓲𝓷 𝓣𝓻𝓪𝓲𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰, 𝓨/𝓷.
I tear up at the sight.
The Protector nudges me forward as he opens the door.
She's looking out the only window in the room.
It looks gloomy outside.
A sad aura radiates around the whole area.
"You get ten minutes to give her a quick check up." He says. "Protector Kavin will pick her up."
The Protector then looks down at me.
"Make use of this precious time." He whispers and leaves the room.
I almost don't believe that I heard him right.
As soon as the door closes, awkward silence fills the air.
"What the fuck Doc." I mutter, choking back my tears.
"I'm doing what I have to do to keep the four of us alive." She says without looking away from the window.
"The four of us?" I question.
"You, me, Hannah, and Mark."
I release air that I didn't even know I was holding in.
"Mark's alive?" I say I disbelief.
"Yes, but I don't see him until later."
Doc turns around to face me.
Her eyes have large bags under them.
She looks horrible.
"Oh my god." I gasp.
"I'm fine. Just...dont worry about it."
I go to speak when she mumbles something under her breath that I don't quite catch.
"What was that?" I ask.
"I didn't say anything." She looks at me like I'm crazy. "Anyways, I need to give you a check up or none of this will be worth it."
Doc gestures for me to sit on the table.
I walk over and try to get up, but my restrained hands stop me.
"Here." She slides a chair over to me.
I sit down and sigh sadly.
Doc does a quick check up to make sure there's nothing wrong with me.
"You're completely fine." She tells me.
I nod.
Silence.
"Just-" She cuts herself off. "Just make sure you stay safe. Everything is going to be okay."
A year slides down my cheek.
"I don't know about that Doc." I sniffle. "Dark hasn't responded to me and-" I cut myself off.
"Dark?" She asks, confused.
"He's...my boyfriend." I say.
She smiles.
"Well-"
The door swings open and slams against the wall.
We both jump.
"Let's go Moskoff."
I eye the Protector weirdly.
"He's not in here." I say.
He rolls his eyes.
"Just get your ass up and moving."
I stand from the chair and head for the door.
Right when I'm about to exit, I look back at Doc.
She smiles at me and shoots me a thumbs up.
I would have laughed if not for the depressing situation I'm in.
I follow the man out of the building which means going past Hannah.
She gives me a pitty look as we head out.
Out from there's a carriage surrounded by Protectors.
Moskoff must be in there.
I roll my eyes.
The Protector leads me to the carriage where he opens the door for me.
"Get in." He growls.
I cautiously hop inside.
I expect him to get in with me, but he just closes the door.
The inside has comfy cushions on the two benches.
Moskoff isnt waiting for me inside.
Instead there's a little note.
I lean forward to read it.
Tαƙҽ ɱყ ɯιϝҽ Ⴆαƈƙ ƚσ ƚԋҽ ԋσυʂҽ.
They must have accidentally left that in here.
Wait!
Does that mean the quarters will be seeing his wife for the first time?
The carriage begins to move.
There are so many stories and rumors about Moskoff's wife.
Mrs. Moskoff.
I wonder if he's nice to her.
I wonder if she loves him.
One story about her is that she doesn't even exist, but was made up to make him seem more important.
I don't really believe that one because of a memory I have from when I was around eight.
-+-+Flashback+-+-
Horns sound all throughout the fourth quarter.
My eyes widen and a large smile spreads across my face.
I run outside and see my mom with the same smile.
Dad rarely sounds his horns in our quarter.
"Momma!" I shout as I go over to her.
"Come on! Let's go see Dad!"
I grip onto my mom's wrist and pull her with all the strength an eight year old has.
It doesn't take long for her to snap out of her trance and for us both to start sprinting.
A carriage coming from behind us has my mom pull me out of the way.
It's about to go by when my mom wraps her arm around my waist and reaches out her free hand.
With that free hand, she grabs hold of the carriage.
We both get forcefully pulled forward.
She hops up and we step on a small little ledge.
"What do you think it's about?" I ask her.
She shrugs.
"Maybe he's improving conditions of the fourth quarter, or even asking for my hand in marriage!"
Mom is so giddy.
I'd never seen her so happy before and I never did again.
We hang on for around ten minutes until we see the upcoming second quarter.
Mark's house is up ahead.
I hang onto my mom as we jump off.
If we got caught doing that we'd be punished.
"Hey guys!" Mark shouts.
He runs over as his mom waves to mine.
We walk with them to the small stage in the quarters center.
There, the carriage from earlier stops.
I watch as the door opens.
Out steps Dad.
"Dad!" I shout, letting go of Mom.
I run over to him and wrap my arms around his waist.
"I missed you Daddy!"
I burry my face into his side.
"Can someone please get their child?" He calls out.
"Y/n!"
Dad pushes me off of him.
I give him a confused glance.
"What's wrong Dad?" I ask.
He chuckles and pats my head.
"You must have me confused for someone else." He says.
"But I don't."
I stare at him, hurt, as Mei picks me up.
"Come on Y/n."
Mei turns around and starts to walk away.
The door to the carriage is still open.
Behind Dad I see a woman's face obscured by a pink veil.
Even though I can't see her face, I can feel that she's angry and really sad.
I wave to her.
Dad looks back to see who I'm waving to.
When he sees the woman, he says something angrily to her before slamming the door shut.

The carriage stops and the door is ripped open.
"Let's go."
I'm pulled out and pushed towards the largest house I've ever seen in The Systems.
I go look back unsure.
I then head inside.
"Up to the bathing room Mrs. Moskoff." I hear.
Curious, I swing around to see everyone looking at me.
"Why did you stop? I told you we're going to the bathing room." He growls.
"But I'm not Mrs. Moskoff." I tell him.
He chuckles.
"Not officially yet."
My eyes widen.
That note was about me.
