Mei's POV

(Mark's Mom)

I sit in a barren room. That jerk has wanted to get rid of me ever since I rejected him all those years ago.
He then secretly has been having an affair with Nova to try and make me jealous. I'd never be jealous of making someone cheat. Poor Nova thinks he really loves her when he's just using her.
I look down at my feet. My ankles are tied to a metal chair. My hands are also tied behind my back. I don't even try to struggle because I know it won't help me at all. The only thing that can save me now is my ability to persuade.

The dolr to the room opens and in walks him.
"Hello Mei." I roll my eyes.
"Now I'm going to ask you a series of questions and you must answer truthfully." He tells me.
"When did you come to the systems?" He asks.
"When Mark was still just a todler." I say.
"Why did you come here?" He asks.
"Because where I'm from became too dangerous for my friend and I."
He nods, satisfied with my answers.
"Do you ever think about the sky?"
"Hard not to. The unknown is very intereting Mr. Moskoff." I respond with a smirk.
"Don't toy with me." He growls.
"Where are you from?' He asks.
Now its his turn to smirk.
"Somewhere not too far from the systems." I say.
"A real answer Mei." He says.
"It was."
Moskoff leans forward so his face is right in front of mine.
"Who is Mark's father?" He asks.
"A man who I haven't seen in years."
"And why is that exactly?" He keeps pushing it.
"To protect both him and myself."
He slams his hands on the table in front of me with an annoyed look on his face.
"I'm fed up with your dancing around my questions." He says.
"If you wont answer me with every detail then I'll get someone who will."
He tells me as he walks toward the door.
"Maybe I'll even bring in that son of yours and tell him what he really is."
I glare at the man as he turns to face me once again.
"So what will it be?"
I dont hesitate before I answer.
"Go and get Nova. Make her upset because now she's not only without her husband, but without her daughter too." I say.
"See how she rescts when you come to her with questions about the sky when all she wants to do is find the only family she has left."
Moskoff doesnt even bat and eyes.
"Nova doesn't disobey her Leader. She will do anything i ask."
He then opens the door and starts to walk out.
"Wait until I tell Mark all about his origins."

Nova's POV

I lay on the hard couch with a million thoughts running through my head.

Where did I go wrong?

Taking the bottle in my hand, I take anither swig from it. All my money went into buying the crap.
I'm not an idiot. I know exactly where Y/n is. I just dont know what to do about it.
I can't go up to the sky to find her.
She could literally be anywhere in the world right now.
Picking up my opposite hand from my chest, I start to rub my hand over my neck. Memories begin to come back to me; ones that I've pushed away for years. An image of Joe floods into my brain making tears start to pour from my eyes.

I didn't ask for any of that to happen.

A loud banging on my fragile door makes me almost fall into to concrete floor. Im about to get up to answer when whoever it is just walks in.
Its Leader Moskoff.
"Nova?" He asks, staring at me in fake disbelief. "What happened to you?"
He comes over to me and takes away the bottle as I'm about to put my lips on it.
"What the hell?!" I angrily growl.
"Look what shes done to you." He says. "She was ungrateful for everything you ever gave to her and then left you."
I shake my head.
"I pushed her away Leader Moskoff." I tell him. "I was too hard on her."
He begins to help me up.
"Lets go somewhere else. We'll get you some water and something to put in your stomach."
Before i can even deny he's already dragging me out my house.

"What are we doing here?" I ask as i look at the very familiar room.
I can feel myself begin to shake.
"Dont be so nervous. I just have some simple questions for you."
I raise my eyebrow.
"Why?" I question, confused.
"It's about Mei." My eyes widen.
"I have suspicion that she helped your daughter runaway to the sky."
Mei and I haven't spoken in quite a while. Not since the kids were really young.
"Why?" I ask again, still not fully undrrstanding.
"She wont answer. So maybe you will."
I feel myself begin to internally panic.
If I dont answer then I'll be punished.
I dont want to die yet.
"Alright!" I force a fake smike.

"When did you an Mei come to the systems?" He starts.
"When Mark was five." I say.
"Do you ever think of the sky?"
I shake mt head.
"No." I half lie.
"Why did you guys come here?"
"Because some bad people were after us." I answer.
"Who is Mark's father?" He asks.
"I actually don't know." I continue to lie.
"Really?" He questions me further.
"Yes." I tell him.
"Where are you from?"
Closing my eyes I take in a deep breath. I haven't admitted this in years. I can't help but reach up and rub my neck again, like it's still there.

"The sky."
