Y/n's POV
(Continuation of Chapter Five)

Mark and I played games on his computer thing for hours. It was so much fun. We played things like Five Nights at Freddy's, Happy Wheels, and Amnesia.
Eventually I knew I had to get going home or my mom would flip a lid.

"I should get going." I reluctantly tell him.
"Yeah," He frowns. "It's getting really late."
We stand up and leave his room.
"Thank you so much for bringing me over and letting me play on your computer thing. Most of all, thank you for giving me a place to stay when I leave my mom's house." Mark hugs me.
"No problem. You are my little sister after all." I chuckle.
"I'll see ya' tomorrow maybe." He nods and we let go of each other.
"I'll make sure to pick you up early from school." I smile.
"My mom would have your head on a platter." We laugh.
"Bye Markimoo." I open his door and start to walk out.
"See ya' Yarny." He waves to me as I walk away from his beautiful home.

On my walk home I make sure to take the longer routes. With doing so I'm kind of on the outskirts of the systems. I pass under many weird sky things that I've been seeing around since I was little.

I mean, no one is really around right now.

I look around me to make sure I'm alone. Since no one is around I search for those same yellow bars from when I was little.
It doesn't take too long for me to find some. The yellow bars lead directly up to the weird metal thing that sometimes has light shooting through it. Quickly, I dash to the yellow bars and place my hand on one that is chest level.

I haven't tired to do this since the first time I tried. Hopefully there will be no moms around to stop me.

Taking hold of the bar, I put my foot on the bottom one and start to climb. The bars are so cold that they send shivers down my spine. The feeling of the cold metal against my feet and hands almost hurts. I reach for the last bar and pull myself up so I'm at an angle where I can look out the.....I'm still not exactly sure what the criss-cross bars actually are.
After I'm at a comfortable angle, I move my head up and look out.

It's bright and seems like it's actually starting to get dark.
I can hear what sounds like talking and that's when I see it; a person. It scares me so much when I see a person that I almost let go of the yellow bar and fall back to the ground. But keeping a firm grip, I continue to look at the whole other world that lives just above my head. After I see one person I see a few more. They don't really seem to be normal though. One of them that I saw was floating above the ground a bit. Another one seemed to have water come out of their hands.

Can I do that?

Out of nowhere someone walks over the thing I'm looking out of. They stop right ontop of it as someone yells; probably to them.
The two people, who I assume are men, have a short conversation. One of the men seems super awkward and uncomfortable with whatever situation he was thrown into.
I can't really understand what they're saying though. I'm bot sure if they're just speaking another language or if the sounds around me are just so loud that it's drowning out their voices. All I can really tell is that the one man has a deep and calm voice while the other has a more normal and up beat kind of voice. After a few minutes of them talking they walk away and I'm just left looking at the people around again.

Maybe it's time I get down from here.

I agree with my thought and climb back down the yellow bars.
When my feet hit the ground I pull my left foot back up I'm pain.
"Ow!" I rub the bottom of my foot as I look in the small puddle on the ground.
Reaching my hand into it I pull out a silver ring.
"Huh?" I wipe the dirt off of it to see that something is engraved in it, but it has probably been in that water for a long time because the engraving is missing a ton of letters. All I can make out is,

a k  X

After the 'X' are what look like random lines that probably once spelled something out.
I put the ring in a pouch that I carry around and start to walk home.
My brain is still trying to process what I just saw. Yes, they were people, but they seemed to be different. They had weird.....magic? stuff.  I'm not entirely sure.

If people live up there then why don't we? Also how come I've never been told of this before?
I just have so many unanswered questions.

My small house comes into view and I roll my eyes at the thought of my mom yelling at me the second I walk through the door.
Pushing open the door, I walk inside. My mom is nowhere to be seen. She's not in the livingroom or the small kitchen. Not really caring too much about where she is, I close the door and sit on the floor.
"Go to your room." My mom tells me.
I turn around to see her standing behind me.
"Why?" I ask confused.
"Because I told you to. Now go to your room." Her voice is shakey.
"Great explanation." I mumble as I get up off the floor and walk past her.
"No 'Happy Birthday!' or anything." I sigh and enter my very small room.

Two more years.
Just two more and you'll be living with Mark.
If I could I would just move in with him now.

The thought of sleeping on the comfy bed he got me for when I move in fills my mind as I lay on my crappy bed. The soft cloth against my skin would feel so nice right now. I imagine laying on it so well that it almost feels like I actually am.
I close my eyes and roll so I'm facing the makeshift wall. I can feel the cold radiating off of it.

Just two more years.
