Mark's POV

Y/n looks so happy as she talks with Dark on the other side of the room. Light music plays very softly. Seeing such a smile on her face makes me smile. My staring is interrupted when I feel a tug on my sleeve. I look over to see Peridot with her head tilted up at me.

"Dance?" She asks. I can't help but smile from eye to eye. "Of course!"

I stand up from the table and walk with Peridot to an open area. I then take her hands in mine as she places her small bare feet on top of mine. She giggles as I sway her around to the music. Next I pick her up and do a spin. She giggles even more. I'm setting her back onto the ground when I see a stunning woman across the room. She's standing with other people and laughing. Her smile looks so beautiful. I'm speechless and my breath is completely gone.

"Hey Mark!" I jump as Y/n suddenly appears next to me. "Uh, h-hi." I turn to face her. She has a weird smile on her face. "What?" I question her. "I saw you staring at that girl over there." She gestures to the other side of the room. I look only to have my gave reden. "W-what? Nooo." I wave my hand and try to lie. "Go talk to her!" Y/n whispers in my ear enthusiastically and then pushes me forward.

I stumble a bit before regaining my footing. When I do, I look back and glare at Y/n. She just glares bank and gestures for me to go. Rolling my eyes, I fave forward and head toward the woman with Peridot by my side.
As I approach I begin to feel nervous. Never have I felt this way in my entire life. My palms are wet with sweat and my heart is poinding. Before I even know it, I'm there.

"Hello." I force myself to speak.

The group looks to me and makes me feel even more nervous. That's when I get a better look at the woman. She has brown hair and glistening brown eyes. She's also wearing a longer dress that's sliver and sparkly. Just the sight of her takes my breath away.

"Aren't you a friend of Y/n's?" She asks me. I nod. "Well I'm Amy!" She introduces herself. "I'm M-Mark." I curse myself under my breath for stuttering. "We'll be right back," One of her friends says. "We're gonna go grab something to drink." The two girls then leave giggling. I open my mouth to say something when I feel a tug on my pants. I look down to see Peridot. "Can I go play Daddy?" She asks. My eyes widen.

She just called me her Dad.

"O-of course sweety." I respond. She smiles and runs off. "Stick close!" I shout and look back to Amy. She's smiling. "You have a kid I see." She says. "I adopted her not too long ago." I tell her. "How sweet." She looks over my shoulder and then back at me. "How did you meet Y/n?" Amy asks me. "I've known her my whole life. Our mother's were good friends when we were younger." She seems shocked. "Really?" I nod. "She's basically my sister." I say. "How about you?" Amy continues to smile. "I was one of the powerful Demons who got to train with her before the bombing of her house." I stand their surprised. "You're a Demon?" I ask. She laughs. "Haven't you noticed how my eyes kinda glow?" I nod. "What's your power?" She seems to think for a moment before responding. "I have both Earth and Sun powers." I shake my head to show I'm listening. "What are Sun powers?"

Amy then tells me all about how it means she has the chance of becoming an Angel one day.

"You Demons continue to amaze me. I never knew that I was missing out on so much up here." I say in disbelief. "I'm still amazed at how no one knew an entire society of Humans were living underground." I sigh. "The world is a crazy place." Amy agrees. "So how did you find out about the camps? Were you born in one?" She goes silent for a moment. "No," She begins. "My parents disappeared when I was younger and I was found roaming the streets by a nice man who brought me here." She slightly frowns. "Sorry to hear about that." She shakes her head. "It's fine. What about your family?" Amy flips it around. "Well I've only met my dad once, who's a Demon, and Dark is my twin brother. My mom..." I trail off as I begin to feel like I may cry. "S-she was Human and....was killed by the leader of The Systems." I manage to hold my tears back. "Oh! I'm so sorry I asked." I wave it off. "That's okay." She seems like she doesn't believe me. "Wanna get something to drink?" I change the subject. "I'd love to."

Amy and I went to get drinks and chatted for the rest of the night. I felt so happy while we talked and Peridot seemed to take a liking to her too. She's just so funny, nice, and pretty. I want to be around her for the rest of my life. We only met a few hours before and it seemed like we had known each other for ages. She warned my heart. I could feel myself falling harder for her the more she told me about herself. She's so radiant and shine like...well...the sun. Even if she wasn't an Angel yet, she had become my Angel.

I can't let anything happen to her tomorrow. I will protect Amy with my entire being. She will survive this war even if it means I don't.
