Y/n's POVI can feel my heart in my throat as the carriage starts to move.
I have no idea what's in store for me today.
All I can do is hope that Dark and Anti were able to follow us here.
Without them, I fear for the worst.
The wedding dress Mila put me in is surprisingly comfortable.
I nervously play with the lace sleeve. What's going to happen today?
Will we save our parents and avenge Seán, or just watch as they're killed in front of us?My hearts racing and I can't sit still.
I pray that Mark is okay so I won't have to go through this alone at least.
The carriage is covered so I can't see out and no one can see in.
This must have been how it always was for Mila.
I reach towards the window and place my hand over the sheet that covers it.
A slight breeze blows up from under the sheet and causes me to shiver.
It's a cold day in The Systems.
The carriage comes to a stop and my stomach seems ready to force up whatever food is left in there.
My head aches as does my chest.
Silence fills the air around me.
I stare down at my heeled shoes.
I think I'm gonna cry.
I quickly bite the inside of my cheek as hard as possible.
I cringe at the taste of blood in my mouth. You must not show weakness to them Y/n.
You must remain strong for your Mom and Mei; for Jack. The door opens and there stands the nice Protector from earlier.
His face is cold and unfeeling as he grabs onto my cuffed hands and pulls me out of the carriage.
My eyes widen at the sight before me.
There are so many people gathered around that they stretch far off down different tunnels.
Moskoff must have required everyone to be here.
We will be the example what happens when you disobey his orders.
"Keep your head low." The Protector tells me.
I do so, not knowing why.
I stare down at my heeled feet to try and concentrate on not falling while he leads me somewhere.
I look up when I see the leg of a chair.
"Sit."
As I sit down on the cold metal chair, I realize that it's bolted into the ground.
I'm shocked when the Protector takes off my cuffs.
"Don't act too happy."
He then forces my left hand onto the arm rest.
As soon as my wrist touches the rest, pieces of metal shoots out the side and locks my wrist in place.
My eyes widen.
I use my right hand to try and free my left, but the Protector grabs that one too and puts it in the other arm rest.
The same thing happens.
The then does the same thing to my ankles.
I have never felt so terrifed in my entire life.
"Scream or ask for release and we'll be forced to gag you." He warns me.
I hesitantly nod and stare at the state before me.
They've added a new feature to the stage.
A curtain.
It's a deep red color and stretches across the whole stage from top to bottom.
They've made it so it's impossible to see what's on the other side I'm without moving it.
The Protector walks away and I take this time to look around me.
I have never been to this part of The Systems before.
This place has nothing in it except for the stage and thousands of people.
Everyone stands behind me.
I'm seated in the only chair around and in the very front row.I guess he wanted me to have a nice view.
I'm disgusted as I think that.
Suddenly a tune starts to play.
I'd know that tune anywhere.
The horns start up and loud marching follows behind it.
I try my best to crane my head to get a look, but I can't.
All the people clap and cheer and the music plays.
Then out of the corner of my eye I see the carriage pull up.
It looks almost as if it's made out of pure gold.
The carriage stops and people continue to cheer.
A Protector walks over and opens the door.
My eyes widen at the man who opens the door.
It's Mark.
I want so desperately to call out to him, but I don't want to be gagged.
I watch as he bows for Moskoff, who steps out of the carriage.
Everyone cheers his name.
"Moskoff! Moskoff! Moskoff!"
He smiles and waves to everyone as he makes his way for the stage.
He then goes up the steps and stands on the sliver not obscured by curtain."Ladies and Gentlemen!"
Everyone cheers.
"Boys and Girls!"
More cheering.
"Are you excited to see why I've called you all here today!?"
They all shout 'yes'.
"Well you all remember Y/n and Mark, correct?"
Silence falls over the crowd.
Some nod while others suddenly seem worried of where this is going.
"Well we've brought them here today for our show!"
All the younger kids cheer while the adults are more hesitant.
"Ready for the show?!" He asks.
"YES!!!"
The curtains draw back to reveal five people standing on chairs and one sitting.
The whole crowd gasps.
My eyes widen.
With nooses around their necks, Mei, The Doctor, Hannah, Bob, and Wade, stand a top chairs.I didn't know he'd bring in people outside of family.
I glance to my left to see Mark with a shocked expression also.
My gaze travels back to the stage and the one person sitting in a chair is my mother.
She's looks very pale and devoid of all emotion.
Her chin rests on her chest and a metal thing is attached to her head.
"Today we make an example of some very bad people." Moskoff starts off.
All around me people whisper.
"What's going on?" One person asks.
"Is this real?" Another questions.
"All five of these people were accomplices in the foul plan that Mark and Y/n have set up."
Some fall for his trap while others don't.
I watch as Mark is held back by three different Protectors.
I can see the distress on his face from here.
"They went to The Sky to rally up monsters to kill us!"
All I can do is stare at my mom.
"They're our enemies!"
My eyes lock with Mei.
She isn't scared.
She just slowly nods at me.
"And today we will show them that we are persistent and will never be defeated!"
Everyone cheers at this.
My heart sinks to my stomach.This....this is it.
