Mark's POV

The sound of clicking fills the room as I once back and forth.
Y/n ever came home last night and I was hoping she would be back when I got off work.
She's still not back.
Worry builds up inside of me and makes it hard to breath.

Did something happen to her?

I'm knocked out of my thoughts when a pounding sound resonates throughout the house.
Hope courses through my veins that it might be her, so I sprint to the door and throw it open.
The person who stands there isn't someone I'd like to see.
My hopeful smile fades away and is replaced with an annoyed frown.

"What do you want?" I ask the protector.
"I have a card to search your home."
I furrow my eyebrows.
"What? Why?" I ask.
Without another word he shoves the card into my chest and pushes me aside, entering my home.
Taking hold of the card it reads that they're looking for Y/n.
A few more protectors enter to aid in the search.
"You're look for Y/n?" I ask, confused.
No one says anything.
"I thought she was with you guys?" I say.
"She never came home last night and I've been worried all day. Where is she?"
No response.
"Why are you looking for her here? She never came back after she left? Why do you even need to find her anyways?"
A loud sound emits from outside.
Turning back to the door, I look out to see the last person I thought I'd ever see or even meet.
"Leader Moskoff?"
This only makes me even more confused.
"What's going on?" I ask.
The man cracks a smile and takes my forearm.
"I'd like to speak to you about Y/n and her whereabouts."
"What do you mean? I just told them that I haven't seen her since they took her last night."
Leader Moskoff looks me in the eyes as if to see if I'm lying.
"Y/n went missing last night after a few protectors lead her back to her mother's house." He tells me.
I feel all the blood drain from my face.
"Missing? Her mother? What?"
He guides me outside where we sit in two chairs that weren't there before.
"Ms. L/n informed me that you were not a good influence on Y/n; so I put her back under the care of her mother."
I feel myself grow angry.
"I'm not a good influence?" I question on disbelief.
"That woman was horrible toward Y/n. She told me everything she's done over the years and I'm the bad influence?"
Leader Moskoff doesn't even acknowledge what I even just said and just continues with his own train of thought.
"She then went missing during the night. The only thing left was 'I'm not sorry' written on the wall." He tells me.
"We believe that you may have aided in her disappearance."
I furiously stand up.
"I didn't even know she was at her mother's house. The protectors never told us where they were taking her." I say.
The man sighs.
"Did Y/n ever mention anything about the sky to you?"
I hide the shock I feel from the question with confusion.
"The sky? No. Why would she talk about the sky?" I ask feeling a bit nervous.
"What about your mother. Does she ever speak of the sky?"
I shake my head.
"Mom just makes clothes and minds her own business. Why does any of this matter? How will it help us find Y/n?"
Leader Moskoff shakes his head and joins in my standing.
"She's not here Sir." One of the protectors tells him.
"Sorry for the inconvenience. We'll be on our way."
He snaps his fingers and a carriage pulled by two people shows up. He hops on and waves to the people of the district as he heads in the direction of the second quarter.

I have to warn Mom.

Leader Moskoff's
POV

I wave to the wealthy people of the first quarter as we exit it and head off to Mei's house.

(A/n - Sorry, I don't know Mark's mom's name.)

I told her when she came here with Nova that they had to keep their mouths shut.
I accepted them into this community and Nova is the only one whispers to be respecting my request.
I've seen Mei with those flower things from the sky.
If they're I'm her house when I get there then I can throw her in the dungeon.
Her being a 'good friend' I want a reason to throw her away and melt the key.
We come upon her house and I hop out the carriage. All the people of the quarter were waving to me as I passed.
Walking up to the front door of her house, I knock.
"Yes?" She asks as she opens the door.
Her eyes widen as she sees it's me, but she quickly composes herself.
"What do you need Game?" She asks.
"I have a card to personally search your home."
She doesn't even flinch.
"Alright, I've got nothing to hide."
I push past her and enter the house. Everywhere are potted plants, but none of them are flowers. There are a few mushrooms and a couple tomato plants: all things here have here in the Systems.
I narrow my eyes at her and open every door in the place, through stiff all around to find anything that's from the sky or talks about it.
Nothing.
I know she has to have something somewhere because of who she is. She stole back all of her stuff that we confiscated when she and Nova got here.
Re-entering the main room I glare at her.
"You can either come with us for questioning, or I can force you."
She raises an eyebrow.
"Did you find something?" She asks.
"No, but we need to question you."
She shakes her head.
"You can do it here."
I chuckle.
"You See Mei, I've developed a present just for you. It'll get you to tell the truth to us no matter what."
Her eyes widen as I smirk.
"Protectors!" I shout.
"Take Mei away."
Two of them grab onto her and start to drag her away.
She doesn't even fight against it.
"You planned this." She says.
I nod.
"Indeed."
Either way I was going to get her.
She'll give me everything I need.
She'll then be executed for crimes that I make up.
"I'm finally going to get rid of you Mei." I whisper and head back to the carriage.

???'S POV

I frown at the sight of Mei being dragged away by that monsters minions. Good thing I got here in time to warm her and helped her hid everything. With this truth serum though, I'll need to develop a counter part.

Don't worry Y/n; I won't let it end too badly this time.

Turning away from the scene, I leave. As I'm exiting the quarter Mark runs past me.

You're too late.

I frown and continue on my way.

Mark's POV

I make it to my moms house and nearly fall over with exhaustion.
What makes me really want to faint though is the fact that her door is wide open.
My eyes widen and I run toward the door and enter the house.
It's been torn apart.
"O-oh no." I throw my hands over my mouth as tears start to cascade down my face.
I fall to my knees and begin to sob.

"I-.....I'm too late."
