Y/n's POV

Dark and I stand up from the bed and nod towards Anti. Anti then walks away. Dark goes to walk out ahead of me, but I take hold on his hand. He stops and looks back to be. I just smile and squeeze his hand. He returns the smile. Together we head out of his room and down the hallway. When we get to the stairs we slowly walk down.

"Peridot seems to be pretty good." I hear a man's voice say. "The only thing is that she definitely needs to eat more."

We step into the living room. There I see a man with his hand to Peridot's chest as she sits in a chair, kicking her feet. The little girl smiles and waves at us. That's when Caila turns around to face us. She doesn't seem as cold as she normally is.

"Hello Caila." I let go of Dark's hand and join her. "Good afternoon Y/n." She says. "That was very brave of you to jump in to save Peridot like that." I smile. "Thanks." Caila then looks me up and down. "Have you no other clothes?" She asks. I look down to see I'm still in a ripped shirt and torn jeans. "Oh! I just woke up not too long ago. Forgot I had to change." I rub the back of my neck in embarrassment. "Ah, I see." Caila then looks back to Peridot. "We'll take her off your hands." She tells us. "Where are her parents?" Mark asks. It's obvious he's concerned about the girl. "They died when Peridot was three." She says. "They tried to save a Human from being beaten by their master. It wasn't a good idea." I can hear the sadness in her voice. "What if Peridot stayed here?" Mark suggests. I smile at him. "Here? This isn't the best place for a child when a wars brewing." Caila shakes her head. Mark's hopeful look immediately drops. "I think otherwise." The man says. "Hi, I'm Dr. Jen." He tells us. "I think Peridot would benefit greatly from have parental figures being in her life." He says to Caila. She doesn't seem all for it at first. "I'll protect her with my entire being." Mark promises as he smiles at the girl. "I see..." Caila trails off. "You've become rather attached to her, haven't you?" Mark nods. "Well then. I guess it's up to her." We all look to Peridot to see what she has to say. "Do you wanna stay here with this nice man or go back with Aunt Caila?" Dr. Jen asks Peridot. "I wanna stay here!" She giggles. Caila frowns. "But can Aunt Caila come over to play sometimes?" She asks more Mark than anyone. He looks up at Caila's sad expression. "Aunt Caila can come over as much as she wants." Caila's frown dissapears into a small smile. "Alright then. I think I should check up on Y/n before I have to leave."

I take a seat as Dr. Jen comes up to me. He points his finger at my eye and a light shoots out of it. I jump back at first, but after a second job get use to it.

"Look at Caila. Don't look directly at the light." I do as he says.

After that he does a few other things to make sure I'm going to be okay. He check my reflexes and my ability to blink my left eye. He also makes sure no nerves were damaged in my arm. In the end it turns out I'm as good as ever.

"I can't get rid of the scars because they're too deep. I don't have good enough training to get rid of them." I shake my head. "That's completely fine." I assure him. He nods.

Suddenly the room fills with red smoke. It smells metallic. As it dissipates, I see three men and two women. Once it's completely gone I recognize one of the men. It's Gavein.

"Gavein?" I stand up and walk over to them with Dark and Anti on either side of me. "What are you doing here?" I shake his hand. "We need to discuss battle plans." He tells me. "And who are these people?" I whisper-ask. He just chuckles. "These are the leaders of other rebel camps." Dark tells me. I can tell it's taking all of his energy to act normal. "Oh, really?" I'm quick to shake everyone else's hands eagerly.
