Y/n's POV
We had spent the next three days teleporting the injured to camps up above The Systems while making the long trek multiple times with various different groups. People had kids in their arms, even if they weren't theirs, and large bags on their backs. The Systems would no longer be their home. Some cried and others were glad. Almost everyone hadn't slept since the death of Moskoff. There were large bags even under the children's eyes. We were almost done with bringing the last group to a Rebel camp when I was approached by a short woman with blonde hair.
"I want to fight." Molly tells me. I don't look at her. How can I face her when I helped aid in the death of her husband? "You will get the chance to do so after we start the war." I say. "No. I want to fight by your side and help lead everyone into battle." I stop and so does the whole group. "Follow Mark everyone. I have to speak to Molly for a minute." People eye me suspiciously, but Molly waves them on. "Why?" I ask her as soon as everyone is gone. "Why what?" She seems confused. "Why do you want to fight beside me when I'm the reason why Wade is dead?" A sadness fills her eyes. "You couldn't save him and neither could I. You did your best and ended up saving almost the entire Systems. I respect you for that." I smile at her. "This war is going to be brutal." I look out off the cliff at the city that's far away. "Lots of Humans will die. I don't even know if we'll win." Molly places her hand on my shoulder as she steps next yo me. "Lots of Demons will die too. We need peace Y/n. I wouldn't wish for any child to grow up in this environment." I nod. "I just don't know how many of our allies will turn on us." She shakes her head. "You can't worry about that." Sighing, I turn to face the wise woman. She gives me a sad smile. I smile back as I pull a Hell Blade from my belt loop. Molly seems scared, until I grip the it from it's blade and face the handle towards her. "What?" She questions. "Take it. It's a Hell Blade. This is one of the only things that can bring harm to Demons that Humans can wield." She takes the blade from me. "It should really only send Demons that you hit back to Hell if you get a killing blow." Molly grips the blade tightly. "Thanks."
We catch back up with the group where Molly goes back to her friends and I head back to the front with Mark. He raises his eyebrow at me as I don't say anything about my return. He looks as if he wants to tell me something, but then decides against it. A few more hours later and we reach the Rebel camp. At it's entrance stands Anti with a woman by his side.
"Caila." She sticks her hand out to greet me. "Y/n." I shake her hand. "Anti, you can lead everyone to where they will be staying. I've got to have a chat with Y/n." Anti nods and, with Mark's help, leads everyone inside the secret base. "Come." Caila heads into the camp after them and I follow. As everyone else goes straight ahead, she leads me down a small hallway to the left. "Anti told me a lot about you." She says out of nowhere. "All good things I hope." I force a smile as she looks at me. Her face is stone cold and almost reminds me of Dark, but the coldness seems fake. "Very. Told me how you saved all these people." I shake my head. "It wasn't all me-" "No need to be humble." I shut my mouth and continue to listen to her speak. "We were also told about your plan to wage war." I gulp as she brings this up. "We aren't so sure that that's the right move." I stop and stare at her in disbelief. "No disrespect, but haven't you guys been planning war for decades?" I ask her. She also stops and turns back to face me. "Yes. Now isn't the right time though." She turns back and starts to walk again. I scoff which causes her to again wait. "When will be the time? Another hundred years? Cause I know that you've seen both Demons and Humans be murdered out there. I know that you've seen people you love fall victim to death." Caila's eyes harden. "We will start war once we're more prepared." I laugh at her statement. "War is happening whether you choose to be apart of it or not." I tell her. "I'm not sitting back to watch more people I love die. I have worked to hard and come to far to just live some life where I pretend that I'm safe. One where I act like King Lucifer doesn't know where I am and won't attack at any moment." Caila takes in a deep breath. "You sure are venturesome." She shakes her head. "That'll get ya' killed one day." I roll my eyes. "Can these people continue to stay here? I honestly don't care if you decide to turn a blind eye to this on-coming war." She goes silent for a moment. Caila then nods. "I could never throw out people in need of a place to stay." She admits. "Thank you very much." She shakes her hand at me. "Run along." I turn away from her and start to walk away when she calls out to me. "Oh, and Y/n," I look back to see her waiting to tell me something. "Always expect the unexpected."
I slowly go back down the hall towards where I entered to see Anti and Mark standing there waiting for me. I run up to them and gesture for the exit. Anti then places his hands on mine and Mark's shoulders before teleporting us home.
"So what was that all about?" Mark asks me. "She doesn't want war yet." I tell him. "But I told her that it's going to happen with or without her." Anti nods. "Caila has always been like that. You should have seen her reaction to the idea of war about fifty-five years ago." He chuckles. "Fifty-Five?!" Mark and I both question at the same time. "I thought she was Human." I tell him. "She is." Anti says. "Then how is she in her like seventies." Anti looks down at the floor after Mark's comment. "She uh...murdered her entire family." Our eyes widen. "WHAT?!" I yell. "If a Human kills every member of their immediate family by hand then they gain their lifespan." I shake my head. "That's fucking insane." I mutter in disbelief.
"Well Caila is an insane person."
