By the time the wedding finally came around, Tom was more than ready to confess to Kat what Danielle confessed to him not too long ago.But with her being the maid of honor and Alex being a nervous wreck, he couldn't exactly find the time to pull her aside, let alone talk to her for a moment.
She had her hands full with Alex to even wonder what was going through Tom's head.
"I just- what if it only takes Z a couple of weeks to realize she mad a mistake in marrying me and leaves me? Then all this money goes to waste and I'll be so heartbroken and miserable without her."
"Z wouldn't leave you, she isn't like that."
"But what if she sees she can do so much better than me- like, Nate. He's fucking hot, I know that and I'm not even straight. Or- oh! That girl from the new show she's in, I've seen the looks she's been giving Z. What if she convinces her to leave me?"
"Okay, first of all, that girl is too nice for her to ever try to steal Z away from you. Plus, Z's breathtaking, you can't blame people for looking at her. But she only has eyes for you- always has. You shouldn't doubt that. You never have... so why now?"
"I... I'm not like you at all Kat. You know I don't believe in that happy ending bull crap. I just- I know something is going to go wrong."
"Nothing is going to go wrong," Kat frowned, now standing up to go to her, "I don't know why you don't think you deserve a happy ending but, trust me, you do. And you are going to fucking get it, Lex. You just have to put that dress on and get ready to be the happiest you've ever been."
"Ha-happiest I've ever been? And she's not going to be taken away from me?"
"No-"
"Oh my god what if she's already run off?!"
"Here we go," Kat chuckled, "I'm gonna go check on her, prove to you that she's there and you just- you put that dress on and get ready, okay?"
"I-okay."
Kat offered her one final smile before leaving the room to go towards Zendaya's.
"Z, just checking in to make sure- oh. Hey babe."
"Hi, baby," Tom chuckled nervously, hoping she didn't hear anything he just happened to tell Zendaya.
"As great as it is to see you- you need to get to your seat. You look gorgeous as always, bride to be."
"Thank you," Zendaya smirked, twirling a bit when Kamil walked in.
"Z, cmon, man! People are getting restless! How long are you two going to take?"
"They're ready. We just need the parents so they can walk them down the isle then we're all set. Tom, go."
"Yes ma'am."
He quickly pecked her lips before rushing off while Kat returned to Alex's room with her parents in tow.
When they walked in and saw Alex in her dress, the three immediately started getting teary eyed.
"Stop that!" Alex whined, "You're gonna make me ruin my make-up! And you've already seen me in the dress, Kat."
"Yeah, well, it's different now that it's actually the day," she explained, careful to wipe the tears that fell as she started to back up, "Dad you keep watch out and wait for Z to leave with her mom and dad then you take mom and Alex. Okay?"
"This may be my the first of my daughter's weddings, but I got this," he brushed her off, making Alex more emotional but she tried her best to hide it as Kat left the room.
After Zendaya's niece as the flower girl, one of the girl's nephews as the ring bearer, the bridesmaid and groomsmen, and Kat and Darnell walked down the aisle- it was finally time for the brides to make their grand entrance.
The ceremony went as beautifully as planned, everyone emotional as the girls confessed their love for each other for their friends and family to hear.
Kat was especially emotional considering her best friend was married.
It felt like just yesterday a young Alex walked into the classroom nervous about starting kindergarten yet now here she was walking down the aisle again but this time with her wife.
"I can't believe she's married," Kat whispered to Darnell when they joined each other's sides again.
"Same here. They grow up so fast, right?"
"You have no idea."
As she walked down the aisle, she caught a glimpse of Tom, sticking her tongue out at him playfully, only making him smile more as he watched her leave.
Harrison smiled at the small exchanged.
"What are you thinking, man?"
"It should be me and her, walking down the aisle."
"That's an easy fix. Just prop-"
Harrison stopped short when Tom pulled out a box, making him freeze while Felicity grew wide eyed and leaned over to look at him.
"No. No way! You can't ruin Alex and Z's day either!"
"How would this be ruining their day?"
"A proposal at a wedding is so tacky and uncalled for. Put that shit away."
"I never said I was doing it today!"
"I see the fucking look on your face, Thomas. If you could, you would chase after her now to do it, wouldn't you?"
"I-"
"Kat's coming, put it away. Put it away."
Tom quickly did as told thanks to Harrison's warning when Kat appeared behind them, a frown on her face.
"What are you guys doing? Everyone's headed to the reception, cmon."
She held her hand out for Tom which he immediately grabbed and followed her out to the limo where the rest of the bridal party were waiting.
"Oh good! You're here! Talk some sense into Carter, will you?"
"Oh god. What did you do, Graves?"
"Nothing! I was just telling Kris that I wish I would've gotten a ring so I would've been able to propose today with everything that's going on."
Tom tensed up but Kat didn't noticed this as she scrunched her nose, shaking her head.
"Ew. No. Don't say that."
"Wait," Tom said slowly, "You wouldn't like that?"
"God no," Kat laughed, "Cmon, babe. Do you know how sucky that is? Taking attention away from the bride for your own selfish reasons? Like you couldn't wait one more day to propose, you just had to do it on the day that's supposed to be about someone else?"
"Exactly!" Kris agreed, "I would've said no if you asked today."
"Same here."
Hearing Kat agree, Tom sighed quietly, releasing the grip he had on the box he was hiding in his suit pocket.
It seemed like he was going to have to wait a bit before he finally proposed to Kat.
