While the allergy incident was well behind Tom and Kat, Tom soon learned how agonizing the guilt of him possibly failing their child felt when Kat left for a week long getaway with the girls, leaving him to watch over the kids by himself.

"This is all my fault," he paced the small exam room.

"How could this possibly be your fault?" Sam chuckled a bit, part of him enjoying seeing his brother such a mess.

"Kat told me to put a small jacket on them when I took them out and I just- I didn't. I thought they would be alright but..."

"They were alright- they would've gotten a heat rash if you put a jacket on them."

"At least it would've just been a rash. This- this is so much worse. We're in a hospital for gods sake!"

"That's more your fault than anything," Paddy shrugged, "You didn't want to just take them to their doctor."

"I need them to be better by the time Kat calls tonight-"

"I'm afraid that's impossible," the doctor announced as he entered the room.

"Oh no. What's wrong with my babies?"

"Nothing serious, just a small fever- nothing too high for us to worry about. But, rest assured, going out without a jacket was not the cause of this. The twins recently had their flu vaccinations, correct?"

"Right," Tom sighed, rubbing his forehead, "I completely forgot about that. My wife actually took them before she left."

"A fever and redness are just common side effects- nothing they can't get over soon."

"Even the throwing up? Or the constant crying-"

"Your twins are just fine, Mr. Holland. You can relax."

"Oh thank god," Tom sighed in relief.

After the doctor gave him more information and told him all he had to do for the twins, he and Sam carried them out, the three eager to get home.

"So what are you going to tell Kat?"

"Absolutely nothing."

"What?"

"If she finds out I took them to the hospital, she'll freak out. Probably buy a ticket straight home."

"Would that be so bad?" Paddy asked slowly, "I mean, won't you need help with two sick kids?"

"S'nothing I can't handle," Tom smiled, "Besides, you two can always help if anything, right?"

"Always," Paddy smiled.
