On February 13 just nearing midnight, Tom was on a mission.
He was on a mission to get back to his family.
Valentine's day had always been a special day for him and Kat so he wasn't about to miss this first Valentine's day as parents, or even away from Kat for that matter.
So, Tom got on a flight back to England for the day, landing home and going straight to the florist right after to get flowers for Kat and a single rose for Theo and Mateo- a tradition he wanted to start with them, even if they had no idea what a tradition even was.
He wanted to have something special with them- especially if he would be away so much for work.
When he did get home really early in the morning, he was surprised to see that no one was awake.
He was even more surprised to see that the twins were no longer sleeping next to Kat, but rather in their room and in their own own cribs.
"I told you guys not to grow up too fast without me," Tom whispered, putting their roses to the side before going to his and Kat's room where she was fast asleep, clutching onto his pillow.
He smiled to himself, making his way to her, sitting beside her and brushing her hair back, knowing nowadays any small movement woke her up- feeling like she had to ever since she had the kids.
Kat immediately started moving when he placed kisses on her neck, sitting up the second she registered what exactly that feeling was with her eyes barely open but ready to fight nonetheless.
"I played a superhero once. I know how to kick ass."
"Wow babe. That's so hot."
Hearing his voice, Kat groaned and laid back down, "Shut your cute ass up and let me sleep."
Tom waited for her to realize that he was there, it not being long before she turned around, looking up at him now wide awake and wide-eyed.
"You're here."
"Happy Valentine's day beautiful," he smiled, going to hand her the flowers when she wrapped her arms around his neck instead, pulling him into a kiss.
He smiled more into the kiss, quick to wrap his own arms around her as he moved to hover over her.
He still remembered when she first kissed him without brushing her teeth, she explained 'you shaved my vagina before I was about to give birth. I think we've reached past the point of kissing without brushing our teeth.'
Tom had never been more proud (not including when the twins were born) which made Kat laugh every time thinking about how something so small could make him so happy.
He was just as happy like she was now, holding Tom close after weeks and on Valentine's day nonetheless, hoping it wasn't a dream but fearing it was when she woke up to an empty bedside hours later.
