"This is literally the one color I can't live without." Aubrey smiled, puckering her lips as she applied her signature red lipstick. Luna watched her friend as the two sat on a bench in the quad of the school. It had been a new day, early in the morning when school didn't begin for another 45 minutes. The campus was empty, not many students showing up yet.
Aubrey never came at this time. The redhead was always late to her first class, but today was different since she had a make up test for physics that she had to take in the early hours of the day. When she was finished, she so happened to spot Luna sitting down on one of the benches.
"Wanna try?" Aubrey smirked, offering the tube of lipstick to the shy brunette. "You would look great with a pop of red."
Luna shook her head. "No thanks." She muttered.
Luna Pearce didn't mind Aubrey's company, but sometimes the girl made her feel even more pathetic than she already felt. Aubrey was so cheery and Luna envied her. Just being near the outgoing redhead made Luna wish that she was like her, having no problems and just going through life as she pleased. Aubrey didn't care what anybody thought of her, and that made people like her even more.
"I can't believe I got paired up with Flash Thompson for that stupid project for Mrs. Lockman. It's going to be a bitch to get him to do work. He also never shuts up about Spider-Man roaming around the city." Aubrey complained. "I swear, he is obsessed with that spider boy."
Luna just sat there as she listened to Aubrey ramble. "I really wanted to work with Liz. At least she does her work." The girl scoffed. "If only you had the class with me. It would be 100 times better."
Luna stood quiet, listening to her friend and nodding. Luna wasn't a good shoulder to cry on when it came to complaining or gossiping, but she chose to not say anything.
"Who are you paired up with?" Aubrey asked, finally putting her lipstick back in her purse.
The brunette shrugged, not really wanting to talk about the project. "Peter."
Aubrey's eyes widen and Luna could see that she was fighting back a smile as she looked at the brunette. "Peter? As in Peter Parker?"
Luna nodded, not understanding why her friend seemed so happy. "Yeah." She confirmed.
"Oh my gosh!" Aubrey cheered, clapping her hands together. "This is so great!"
"How is it great?" Luna asked.
The redhead rolled her eyes, playfully pushing Luna's shoulder as she smiled. "Because dummy.." She chuckled. "He likes you."
"What?" Luna almost chokes on her own saliva, not being prepared to hear such a response.
"It's so obvious Luna." Aubrey laughs. "Are you that oblivious?"
Luna sighed, not believing a single word. She knew that nobody at Midtown High liked her. The girl was too quiet for anybody to even notice her. There was no way and Luna refused to believe such a thing.
