Drifting off into a world of her own was all Luna Pearce ever did.

She imagined beautiful things. Happy things to be exact. She would think of a world only consisting of happiness and love, something she never felt in a very long time. It was a nice thought. Luna didn't feel normal in society, but she felt as normal as ever in the world that she would think of.

Being an outcast wasn't easy for a girl like Luna. Everyday was a constant reminder that she had nobody who truly cared for her: at school and at home. The only place where she actually felt secure and protected was in her own thoughts. Just by staring into space made Luna think of amazing things that she wish were true. Whenever she would think about blissful thoughts, the feeling was just indescribable.

It was an escape from the harsh reality that she was forced to live in. A reality that she was snapped back into whenever her English teacher caught her attention.

"Ms. Pearce?" The older lady spoke.

Luna darted her eyes to the front of the room, feeling everyone's eyes on her as they shuffled to turn around.

"By the looks of it, it seems you're more interested in staring out the window instead of paying attention to the lesson." She scolded, earning a few snickers from other students.

Luna felt her cheeks burn as she managed to stumble upon some words.

"S-Sorry." She stuttered.

Being the center of attention was something Luna despised. Being everyone's source for gossip made her insides cringe with embarrassment. She knew full well that people talked about her. People found joy in talking about how much of a loner she was. Luna Pearce wasn't ugly, that was a known fact. She had silky brown hair and a body that most girls would kill for. But, she never made any effort to embrace how beautiful she really was. Her self-esteem was at its breaking point.

Midtown School of Science and Technology was filled with some of the smartest and wisest individuals, but it definitely wasn't filled with the kindest.

Luna wasn't bullied at school, but she was someone that people found pleasure in talking negative about. In a way, it was still bullying, but not in an extreme way.

The girl was a mystery to everyone. No one knew why she willingly chose not to be social with her peers. And because of that, people found her strange. From gossiping about her whenever she walked by the halls to giggling whenever it was obvious that she was embarrassed by any kind of attention.

Luna sighed, picking up her mechanical pencil and doodling over the hardwood desk that contained other drawings from previous classes.

It was last period. The day was almost over. Most people waited for the last bell to ring so they could sprawl out of their seats and head for the main doors. That wasn't the case with Luna. She hated when the final bell rang, it only reminding her of the hell she had to return to at the end of every school day.

There was only 5 minutes left until school was over, and Luna felt herself on the verge of tears. Others would've found this strange, but they didn't know her story. It never failed for Luna to let out a few tears as she realized that she was forced to go back home; the place she hated most.

She let out a shaky breath as she stared at the classroom clock that kept on ticking. She would do anything just for time to stop and never continue again.

Suddenly, she felt a pair of eyes on her; leading her to tear her eyes away from the clock and look directly at the source.

Peter Parker.

There he sat, slightly turned in his seat; staring at the girl with an emotion that Luna couldn't quite point out.

Luna didn't know much about Peter. Only that he was a bit of a loner himself, but not nearly as much as her. He had his little group of close friends that he didn't seem to mind spending time with. She also knew that he went to homecoming with Liz Allen last year right before the popular girl moved away; only to return when the new school year began.

Peter continued to stare into the girl's eyes for a moment before finally turning away.

Luna felt embarrassed knowing why he was looking over at her. She was a shaking mess and it was obvious she couldn't control herself.

She must've looked pathetic.

No one knew what the poor girl had to go through. She was trapped in her own bubble, not telling a single soul about the horrors she faced behind closed doors.

Luna was in her own personal hell, the only safe haven being in her thoughts.

The 16 year old was simply waiting for the day where she was able to leave Queens and never look back. There was simply nothing to look back for. Sure, she had her mother, but Luna was lucky if the woman would pay any attention to her. Her mother became a raging alcoholic ever since her father passed away a year ago. After that, her mother decided to pack everything up and move to Queens with her daughter.

The emotional absence of Luna's mom was the least of the girl's problems.

The main issue was the new man her mother brought around. The man that made Luna's life how it is today: worthless and terrifying.

It was truly baffling how much things could change in just one year. A year prior, Luna was a normal, happy teenager who had two loving parents by her side. Everything went downhill after she lost her father.

It only took 4 months after his death for her mother to find someone else. Someone who she didn't really love, but was willing to be with to make the emotional pain a little easier to deal with.

Luna Pearce was worthless; an emotional wreck. She felt as if there was no purpose to thrive out into the world. No purpose to even continue living the life that she was currently distressed in. She felt there was nobody who cared. Nobody who was willing to help her.

Little did she know just how wrong she was.

I am aware that the storyline seems a little sad and dramatic, but I wanted you guys to get to know the main character by inputting some background information.

Also, I know that this is kinda all over the place but don't worry, many things will be explained later on in the story.

Love you all. Don't forget to vote!
