She spoke.
The girl actually spoke to him, saying hi as he stood there in shock. Peter hardly ever heard Luna's voice since the brunette was so quiet, but hearing her say a simple word made him happy on the inside. However, the girl did look uncomfortable, which was the last thing Peter wanted her to feel. He knew that Luna would be quiet around him. The two had never spoken to each other before so it was inevitable.
"H-Hey." Peter smiled, slowly sitting down in the chair next to her. Luna eyed him, watching as he awkwardly placed his body in the seat.
"I-I'm Peter." The boy stuttered. He was still surprised about the situation and couldn't help but feel nervous. Peter shifted in his seat, careful not to get to close to her. The girl wasn't exactly an open book.
"Luna." The brunette mutters, looking down at her fidgeting hands.
Peter nodded, already knowing the girl's name without ever talking to her, but she didn't need to know that.
Luna didn't know how to speak to Peter Parker. Hell, the teenager didn't know how to associate herself with anybody, so how was she supposed to get through a whole project working with the curly haired boy? The thought of it made her sick. But, Luna didn't even hate Peter, she was just an antisocial girl who didn't know how to make friends. Not anymore, at least. This was usually when Luna wished that she shared her English class with Aubrey. Things would have ran a lot more smoothly for her if she had class with her only friend, if they even were friends.
Peter sat there, staring at the girl as her eyes were glued to her lap. The secret vigilante didn't know what to say. As Spiderman, he always had something to say, but as Peter Parker, nothing.
People around Queens adored Spider-Man. They were grateful for him and what he has done for the city, which is why Peter had no problem talking to anyone when he was in the mask. As Spider-Man, Peter's self esteem was the highest it's ever been, without any worry of anybody knowing who he actually was. But as Peter Parker, it was impossible to talk to girls. Especially girls whom he had crushes on.
Although, it seemed that Luna Pearce was even more antisocial than Peter, which made the boy the talkative one out of the two. He had to do something for Luna not to be so quiet, otherwise the entirety of the project would be uncomfortable, even for Peter.
So, Peter decided to start off slow.
"I've seen you around before." He says, attempting to start up a conversation.
Luna stood quiet, unsure on what to do. She felt bad that she didn't have a single word to say to him, and he was obviously doing his best to make small talk.
"That's a really cool bracelet." Peter pointed to the small charm that sat loosely around her wrist.
Luna smiled, barely even there for anybody to notice, but enough for Peter Parker to notice. He fought the urge to smile back, but still couldn't help but grin.
