Luna wiped the tears off her blotchy face as she prepared herself to walk through her apartment door. The girl waited until school hours were over until making her way back home, trying to make it seem like she was at school this entire time. Luna wasn't sure if Rick had seen her at Delmar's, but she was pretty sure that there was a possibly that he didn't. However, that didn't control her fear any less. This was a moment when Luna actually wished that Peter was with her, comforting her in any way possible.

Of course, Luna screwed up their friendship. She let her guard down and allowed Peter to actually be her friends, and it completely blew up in her face. The girl knew that getting too close to Peter Parker would only make things complicated, and if she wanted to keep him from knowing about her life, then she had to do something before it got out of hand.

Luna liked Peter, and that terrified her in ways she couldn't explain. She was comfortable with his presence and just enjoyed being his friend overall. But now, things were a complete mess, and now she had this to deal with.

Luna unlocked the door, cautiously stepping inside the quiet apartment and waiting for any sort of noise indicating that someone was there.

The silence scared her, so silent that her shaky breath could be heard throughout the entire place.

"Hi there."

Luna jumped, turning towards the dining table where the source spoke.

The girl was confused to see her mother sitting at the table, patiently waiting with a mug of tea held in her hands. Luna's mother was never home at this time, if she was even home at all.

"H-Hey." Luna breathed, eyeing her mom from her place near the front door.

"How was school?" Her mom smiled, sipping from the mug.

Rick was nowhere in sight, which had the girl wondering if he was here or not.

"Where's Rick?" Luna asked, ignoring her mother's question. She wanted to know if he was in the apartment, then she could know whether or not to be afraid of him popping up somewhere.

"He went out for a bit to get us some dinner for later. It's actually been a while so he should be back soon."

Luna nodded, feeling chills run up and down her spine as she stood awkwardly. The girl hardly saw her mom with how much the woman had been working, so it was strange to even see her at this time of day, much like last time.

"Sit down." The woman smiled, gesturing for Luna to take a seat across from her. "Haven't had the chance to talk much lately."

Luna was in no mood to talk to anybody. All she wanted to do was hide away in her room from the man that haunted her everyday. If she was in her room, then she would be safe. Rick never went into Luna's room before for reasons that were unknown to her, but she was grateful for at least that.
