"Since report cards are due soon, I need you all to start taking this work seriously." The woman lectured, standing up from her desk with a stack of papers in her hands. "A handful of you didn't do so well on this test, so after we do tons of review this week, I expect a better percentage as a class."

Luna's eyes were trained on her desk, already knowing that she didn't pass the physics test she was given a week prior. Her grades were not the best, and it never failed to make her feel stupid. The girl just didn't see a reason to even try anymore.

As Ms. Warren passed out everyone's scores, Luna dreaded the moment in which the woman would return her's. The teacher never failed to give the young girl a look of disappointment, making Luna feel worse about letting her grades be where they were.

Ms. Warren walked to the back of the classroom, handing Luna a white paper that had a failing 63% written at the top with dark red pen.

Luna sighed, mentally punching herself for being such an idiot.

Luna Pearce was actually a smart girl, and she was at the top of her class at her previous school. The girl enjoyed doing school work and feeling a rush of success whenever she received good grades or a variety of awards. Luna was definitely known as the girl who had both beauty and brains.

However, Luna was a completely different person than who she previously was. Ever since her #1 role model died, she didn't see a point anymore. The girl still tried her best to focus on her grades, but it soon became too much, and it got even worse when Rick stepped into her life. Ever since then, Luna found it extremely difficult to succeed in school with so much negativity going on in her life. Luna was smart, she just wasn't motivated.

The bell rang, signalling the end of class. Luna quickly stood up from her seat and shoved her failing test in her bag.

Just as she was about to exit the classroom door, Mrs. Warren caught her attention by calling out to the girl.

"Ms. Pearce, do you mind staying for a minute?" The woman asked, crossing her legs as she sat on her chair.

Luna sighed, already knowing what this conversation was going to be about. The girl weakly nodded, letting other students pass her as she made her way to the large desk in the front of the class. The older woman eyed Luna carefully, as if trying to see right through the girl's eyes.

"Yes?" Luna muttered, fidgeting with the ends of her jean jacket.

The teacher adjusted the glasses that rested on her face, leaning back against her desk chair. "Luna," She sighed. "We really need to discuss your grade in this class."

The girl shook her head, biting her lip nervously. "I know." She spoke. "I promise I'm doing everything I can."

"Are you?" Ms. Warren furrowed her eyebrows, not believing the girl. "Because I've had this discussion with you before, and I've seen no progress so far."
