Peter walked Luna home once it got extremely late, the boy being too uncomfortable to have her walk by herself at this time. They got a decent amount of studying done, and Luna felt like she would at least be able to get a minimal passing grade on the test tomorrow. It wasn't much, but it was something.
Peter walked back into his apartment after dropping Luna off, hoping that his aunt would be asleep so he didn't have to deal with the questions she was bound to ask him. The apartment was dark, so he figured he was in the clear.
However, his heart nearly dropped to his stomach once the lights flickered on, lighting up the entire living room.
"Holy-" Peter yelped, holding a hand to chest as he saw his aunt stare at him suspiciously. She was standing near the light switch, a smirk plastered on her face.
"So," she started. "How was your date?"
Peter cursed under his breath, feeling defeated that he couldn't avoid this conversation until later.
"It wasn't a date May." The boy rolled his eyes. "We were just studying in my room."
"You never brought anyone here to study." The woman stated, crossing her arms over her chest. "And suddenly a beautiful girl shows up out of nowhere?" She questions. "My little stud is growing up so fast."
The teenager groaned. "It's not a big deal."
"Of course it is!" May squealed, walking up to the boy and placing her hands on his shoulders. "I could see the way you two feel towards each other."
"We were only out here for like 2 minutes." Peter raised an eyebrow.
"Doesn't matter." His aunt held up a finger. l know love when I see it, even if it's during the first few seconds."
"It isn't love." Peter blushed. "We're just friends."
May scoffed, folding her arms again. "So you're telling me you don't like her?" She asked.
Peter looked at the floor, feeling his cheeks heat up as he avoided looking into his aunt's eyes. "I didn't say that either." He muttered.
The smile on May's face grew as she clasped her hands together. "I knew it." She smiled. "How come you didn't tell me she was coming over?"
"Because I wanted to avoid a conversation like this." The boy gestured.
"Oh hush." May waved her hand dismissively. "I just want you to be happy. That's all I ever wish for in life."
"I know." Peter smiled a little. "and I love you for it." He told her, running a hand through his hair. "But I am happy. You should know that already."
Peter knew that Aunt May was a little eager for him to have someone who he can proudly call his girlfriend, but it was more easier said than done. After Peter's uncle died, it was hard for both him and May to let people into their lives, which is why the boy's aunt was always excited when Peter mentioned anything about a girl. May knew that she would possibly be single for the rest of her life, already certain that she would never find anybody remotely as amazing as her late husband, but she wanted it to be different for her nephew. May wanted Peter to experience love, hoping that Ben's death didn't scar him forever.
