"Am I crazy or did I see you sit next to Peter Parker at lunch today?"
Luna was startled by the questioning voice that popped out of nowhere, knowing that it only belonged to one person.
Aubrey placed a hand on her hip as she stared at the brunette with a knowing look. The popular girl was always up for gossiping, so she wasn't about to pass up on the opportunity to talk about what she saw at lunch earlier in the day. Aubrey had practically sprinted her way towards Luna once the last bell rang, eager to get some answers.
"Well?" She questioned.
Luna huffed, knowing she was in for it.
"He asked me to." She responded as simple as possible.
"I ask you to sit with me and my friends all the time, and you always say no." Aubrey retorted, crossing her arms. "But when your crush asks you, you're all for it."
"Peter isn't my crush." Luna denied. "And he also doesn't have friends who would look at me like I'm a piece of trash."
Aubrey pouted, once again feeing guilty for having friends who had no shame in making people feel worthless.
The redhead rolled her eyes, grabbing the girl's arm and stopping her from walking further down the hallway.
"As much as you don't want to hear this, you like him and he likes you." Aubrey stated, "You need to admit that to yourself."
As much as Luna didn't want to believe it, she knew that it was only a matter of time before her feelings toward Peter became stronger. And now that they were pretty much friends again, there was no holding those feelings back. Aubrey just wanted Luna to be happy, and the redhead believed that Peter Parker would make Luna very happy. She just needed at least one of them to fess up about it.
"You know I'm right." Aubrey smiled, nudging the girl's shoulder.
"Even if you are," Luna sighed. "Nothing will ever happen between us."
Aubrey scoffed, annoyingly eyeing the brunette. "And why the hell not?"
Luna was a damaged girl, and she was unable to imagine herself actually being with someone. It had been so long since the girl was involved in any type of romantic relationship. She only ever had one boyfriend when her father was alive, and she hardly considered it a relationship since she was only 14 at the time. It was basically nothing.
"Peter and I are just friends."
Aubrey wanted to laugh, thinking how stupid that response was. It was obvious that Peter and Luna had some sort of attraction towards one another, and it was crazy how Luna still tried to say otherwise.
"Oh come on, at least try and sound convincing." The redhead chuckled. "But seriously, Peter would be good for you."
Luna raised an eyebrow at her friend. "You don't even know him." She stated.
"I don't have to know him to know he's a good guy. It's pretty obvious how sweet he is." Aubrey argued, shrugging her shoulders. "Plus, Liz always mentions how nice he is and stuff."
The girl was right. It didn't take a genius to know what kind of person Peter Parker was. Everyone at Midtown knows how genuine he is, which was both a good and bad thing. Some people saw it as a positive quality, while others used it as an advantage to tease the poor boy. People like Flash Thompson.
Peter always turned the other cheek when it came to Flash. He never spoke up for himself or even gave the boy his time of day when Flash would mess with him. Peter learned to ignore it, even though he wanted so badly to show what he was really capable of doing.
"It'll be good for you to step out of your comfort zone a little bit." Aubrey said, putting an encouraging hand on the girl's shoulder. "All I'm saying is to at least give him a chance."
Luna stood quiet, nervously looking at her feet as she tried to avoid the burning gaze coming from her friend. All Aubrey ever talked about with the girl was how cute Luna and Peter would be together, and the brunette was almost getting her hopes up by believing the same thing.

Spider-Man was standing at the edge of a building, cautiously examining the streets as he stared at the many people that strolled along. The hero was far up, but his abilities allowed him to focus on certain things even if he wasn't close enough.
The sun was ready to set, and nothing was going on at the moment for the vigilante to step into action.
The only source of crime that went on earlier was when someone tried to steal a bike, which was something that usually occurred from time to time. Spider-Man hardly had days in which nothing would happen, and he guessed that today was one of those days. It was actually pretty relaxing for the boy at times since it allowed him to regroup and get back to his daily patrol better than ever.
Usually when Peter was bored with no crime to handle, he would call Happy in hopes that the man would answer, which was highly unlikely. The boy would rant about his day on Happy's voicemail, which the guy wouldn't even listen to most of the time, but it was worth a shot.
Peter was glad to think that he had a good day. He was able to talk to Luna at school and even somehow convinced her to sit with him and his friends during lunch. That was enough to make his entire day memorable, and he was ecstatic to know that he could potentially be making progress with Luna.
The boy grinned behind his mask as he thought about her, already eager to see her tomorrow.
Peter couldn't describe the feeling of relief that washed over him once he was told that Luna was no longer living with that awful guy he saw at Delmar's. It made him feel so much better knowing that the girl was able to feel at least a little at peace being in her apartment. The boy was stupid for letting her go through what she did, and he didn't fail to remind himself everyday.
Spider-Man shook his head, concentrating back on what he was supposed to be doing at the moment. With a sigh, Peter adjusted the mask on his face and squatting down, interlocking his fingers as he looked down at the city.
"Alright Karen," he breathed. "What'd you got for me?"
