After waving goodbye to Banri, Akira continued to weave through the confusing layout of the funfair. While most things seemed normal, she couldn't help but notice that every ride was closed. All of the rides had an entrance that led to the ride and an exit that led into a certain room. The rides and rooms seemed to share a common theme - she saw one full of flames and two candles marking the entrance and another one with seats shaped like books.
As she walked, Akira nearly bumped into someone. Said girl turned around sharply, already wiping the dust off her suit, and eyed her curiously. "...May I help you?"
She had short, shoulder-length, perfectly straight dark violet (almost black, but not quite) hair. Her eyes were a pale green and she had purple bags underneath her eyes (they seemed almost too real). She had thin, metal glasses on and a dark brown headband. She wore a simple, brown tuxedo with a lavender undercoat and a purple tie, along with black leggings.
"Well? Don't keep me waiting, I have better things to do than talk to you," she huffed in a tone that screamed ' I'm better and/or more important than you '. "Unless you happen to know why we're here, that is. If not, then you might as well get out of my sight."
"No need to be rude," Akira said with a huff, "I was trying to introduce myself is all. I'm Akira Sashiki, the Ultimate Archer. It's nice to meet you."
She hummed before sighing. "Not a terrible talent, I suppose. I'm Rei Domen, the Ultimate Historian. Knowledge is life and trust me when I say I'm living it well."
REI DOMEN
ULTIMATE HISTORIAN
"History?" Akira smiled a bit. "Anything, in particular, you're fond of? I like history, too."
"European history. Well, if we're being as specific as possible, I enjoy Lithuanian history. Under Vytautas, Lithuania was actually the biggest state in Europe. Now, it's a puny, tiny little country, although their potato dishes are divine," Rei said with a smirk, "though, I doubt you know any of this, seeing as your knowledge of history is likely quite limited."
"I know some small facts here and there, but nothing too special. For example, once, the army of Liechtenstein sent out eighty men to go on the Italian border, but they came back with eighty-one because they made a friend, right?" Akira asked. She was more fond of popular history, but she couldn't deny Rei's statement was interesting to her.
Rei scoffed and shook her head. "It was an Austrian, not an Italian. That happened during the Austro-Prussian war. If you want to give me a fact, make it right, you cretin."
Akira sighed. Just when she thought she found someone normal. "I'm not a cretin - don't insult me. It's nice that you know so much about history, though. You must be really smart."
"Gh!"
Rei clutched her suit, entire face turning red hot as she wheezed. "D... Did you just..?!"
"I complimented you," Akira said slowly, "what's wrong? Did it fluster you or something?"
Rei, still blushing, narrowed her eyes. She quickly moved her gaze away when she noticed Akira was still looking at her, though. "...N-No. Compliments are not something I am eager to receive is all. Especially not from a plebian as yourself."
"It's okay to be shy!" Akira laughed. "You don't need to act all big and tough around me."
"I'm acting like this because I am above you," Rei said, smirking again, "shy is not a word in my vocabulary. If you would like to see what a shy person looks like, take it to the girl who looks like the pink panther."
"...Who?"
Rei shook her head. "Her name doesn't even deserve the utterance of me. However, Ms. Sashiki, I suppose you know at least a little bit of history, despite you being a bit stupid. I shall take the time to know your name."
Rei stopped talking, causing silence to fill the air.
"...Was that it?" Akira asked.
"I have already humored you by talking to you. You should go now before I change my mind," she huffed.
Akira shrugged, knowing there was no way to get through to Rei at this point. "Alright. See you soon, Rei."
Rei shook her head. "If I feel like it, maybe."
