14 - Forgiveness

Althea's heart beats fast when the door opens, then Daniel and Allie came in. For the longest time, she treated this couple as her parents not knowing that they are indeed her biological parents.

"I shall leave you guys for a while, para mas makapag-usap kayo nang maayos." Aurora said

"Thank you Mama, I owe you this one." Daniel said.

"I'm glad you know that son. We will talk about your resignation after this is over." Aurora said smiling sweetly to her younger son.

"Yes Mama, I understand." Daniel said and kisses her mother on her forehead. "I will always be grateful that you are my mother. I love you Mama, and thank you for doing this for us." Daniel said and could not help himself but hugs her mother.

"O sige na nga written reprimand na lang ang ibibigay ko sa iyo. Hindi naman kita matitiis eh." Aurora said.

"On what grounds is the written reprimand?" Daniel asked

"Insubordination." Aurora replied before she went out of the house.

There is a long silence after Aurora left and Althea breaks the ice. "You have something to tell me?" she asked

Instead of answering Althea, Allona swiftly walks fast to Althea and hugs her tightly. "I'm sorry Althea, I'm so sorry anak." She said while sobbing.

"Ask us anything, lahat sasagutin namin at wala kaming itatago sa iyo." Daniel said

"Do you like me Dad, Mama?" Althea asked.

"I don't just like you anak, I love you so much." Allona replied.

"I'm sorry if you think it that way, baby. I love you so much, please always remember that" Daniel said.

"Then why did you give me away?" Althea asked.

"I have no choice but to make you believe that Kuya Victor and Laura are your biological parents, because I want you to grow up with a complete family. I have so many apprehensions that time, hindi kasi ako sigurado kung magkakabalikan pa kami ni Daniel. Kaya para hindi ka malito, your Dad and I decided na wag na lang sabihin sa iyo ang tutoo." Allona said.

"You end up with each other, how come I am still with Daddy and Mommy?" Althea asked

"I was afraid that you'll not understand and that you'll get mad at me and your Dad." Allona replied.

"Mama, I will not understand if you will not make me understand. All I am feeling now is rejection by my biological parents, whom I trusted and loved so much." Althea said.

"I'm sorry if you feel that way baby but believe me, it was not you that I rejected that time. It was the situation. How can I take care of a child while I was grieving for the loss of the only girl that I loved so much? You are the only memory that Allona left for me, but it was too late when I realized that. Kuya Victor did not trust me that I can have my life fixed. That was why he did not want to give you back to me anymore." Daniel said.

"Anak, please don't ever think that you were rejected. We don't intend to give you away. We only thought of what's best for you." Allona said.

"Do you have plan of telling me the truth?" Althea asked.

"We leave that to Kuya Victor and Laura as a sign of gratitude for taking care of you. Also, kahit kailan hindi ka nila ipinagdamot sa amin. Hindi mo alam, apat kaming nagdedesisyon sa mga bagay na concern sa iyo. That's how your Daddy and Mommy respected us, as your parents. According to Kuya Victor, they planned to tell you the truth when you turned sixteen. I thought it will be on your sixteenth birthday but Kuya Victor decided to defer it. He does not want to ruin your special day." Daniel said.
