35 - Best Friend

As requested, Richard went to work at Royalties Hotel with his son, Thirdy. Everyone in Royalties Hotel is delighted to see the youngest heir roams around the hotel to familiarize himself on the different sections of the business.

For Thirdy, the Royalties Hotel has been his playground when he was as toddler. Except for the new faces he meets during his visit in each departments of the hotel, nothing has changed.  It maintains its elegant ambiance and warm greetings of the people.

"Thirdy?" he heard someone calls him.

"Rebecca?" he surprisedly uttered upon seeing the young lady at the kitchen.

He smiles at her, realizing it has been years since the last time he saw his friend and partner in crime in grade school. Rebecca is the daughter of Royalties Cebu's Head Chef, Amanda. She is Thirdy's playmate when they were still in elementary as Thirdy went to the same school as Rebecca's when the Reyes family transferred to Cebu for Royalties Hotel.

"How are you? Long time no see, Tress. Grabe ang tangkad mo naman." Rebecca asked.

"At ikaw parang hindi naman lumaki. I am happy to see you here, Reb, maraming bagong mukha ang ipinakilala ni Uncle Ross sa akin kanina at nakakapanibago. I am about to ask Chef Amanda about you, sabi kasi ni Uncle Ross, hanggang ngayon si Chef Amanda pa rin ang head chef ng Royalties. Anong ginagawa mo dito, don't tell me you are working here already?" Thirdy said.

"As usual, nakikinood lang ako, alam mo naman na noon pa ganito na ang set-up namin ni Mama. Kaya nakasanayan ko nang bantayan sya dito sa Royalties kitchen" Rebecca replied. "Good morning Sir Richard." She greeted upon seeing the Royalties president enters the kitchen.

"Good morning Rebecca, where is Amanda?" Richard asked.

"She went to the stock room Sir." Rebecca replied.

"Okay, pakisabi na lang kay Mama mo that I want to see her in my office when she's free." Richard said.

"Sige po sir, sasabihin ko po agad kay Mama pagbalik nya." Rebecca replied.

"Thank you Rebecca." Richard said. "Sasabihin ko pa lang sa iyo na nandito si Thirdy, naunahan na pala nya ako." Richard commented.

"Yes Dad, and like the old times, tambay pa rin ng Royalties kitchen itong si Reb." Thirdy uttered.

"Eto naman pinapahiya mo ako kay Sir Richard. Sorry po kung dito ako nakatambay sa kitchen, sir. Marami po kasi akong gustong matutunan kay Mama." Rebecca apologized.

"It's fine, Rebecca. Basta ba hindi ka papabayaang magluto ni Amanda eh." Richard kidded.

"Ay hindi po sir. Nanonood lang po ako talaga." Rebecca said.

"I know that Rebecca, binibiro lang kita." Richard said. "Tapos ka na bang ilibot ni Ross, Thirdy?" he asked his son.

"Yes, Dad. The kitchen is our last stop." Thirdy replied.

"Very well, you may want to catch-up with Rebecca, okay lang sa akin." Richard said.

"Really, Dad?" Thirdy happily asked.

"Really, son." Richard replied, nodding.

"May gagawin ka ba Reb? Would you like to grab some snacks with me?" Thirdy asked.

"Ok lang naman, but I have a better idea." Rebecca said.

"Ayan ka na naman sa mga better idea mo eh, ang katapusan naman nyan, palpak pa rin." Thirdy commented.
