71 - 2nd Half

Before the start of the 3rd quarter, Victor and Daniel told the boys about the abrupt changes in the game. As expected, when Santino learned about having Victor as his teammate he took it as an advantage on his part as the father of Althea sided on him. He did not know that Daniel chooses Thirdy as his teammate to give him the chance to show his basketball skills.

"I hope you won't mind Victor and Daniel but I have a suggestion." Coach Joseph said.

"Spill it, Joseph. Let's see if it will add excitement to the game." Daniel replied.

"Wag nang back to zero ang game. Toss coin, on who gets the highest point." Coach Joseph suggested.

"Head for me." Victor uttered.

"I have no choice but to get the tail." Daniel said.

Coach Joseph toss the coin and the head gets the highest point. Victor sees how wide Santino's smile is. Who would not be happy on getting the highest score, the lead is twice a dozen points.

"Hati tayo sa lead points, plus 12 points kayo ni Thirdy, Daniel." Victor said.

"But Sir, baka makahabol sila, mataas ang shooting percentage ni Sir Daniel." Santino protested.

"Ikaw din naman di ba? You have a high shooting percentage. Thirdy only contributed five points of your total score. Don't tell me natatakot ka pa sa 12 points lead." Victor uttered.

"It is not that, Sir. Nanghinayang lang po ako sa 12 points na mawawala sa atin." Santino replied.

"Walang nawala sa iyo, Santino. Most of those points are from my brother. I have only a few contributions. Wag mong angkinin ang hindi mo pinaghirapan. Let's just play and stop complaining." Victor said.

Actually, Victor wishes Daniel and Thirdy gets the highest score. In the last twenty four minutes of playing, Santino was not aware that his true behavior slowly unveils and Victor is not liking it.

On the other hand, Daniel does not mind getting the lowest score. He is confident that a dozen point lead is not enough reason to be shaken if they still have twenty four minutes remaining to play. "That is only a dozen of lead points. Do you think we can win this game, Thirdy boy?" He asked.

"I have very limited knowledge on this sport, sir. Please take the lead, and tell me what should I do. Susunod po ako sa lahat ng sasabihin nyo." Thirdy replied.

"Good." Daniel briefly replied and taps Thirdy's shoulder. "Let's play, Thirdy boy." He said.

In the beginning of the 3rd quarter, Thirdy inbounded the ball and Daniel effortlessly scored their first two points in the 2nd half of the game.

The lead went down to ten points and it was very evident at Santino how he dislikes it so he make sure to get a basket to bring back the twelve points lead.

For a few minutes the lead only stays between twelve and ten until Daniel finally sees an open chance and quickly pass on to Thirdy the ball. "Your turn to score, Thirdy boy." Daniel exclaimed and Thirdy wasted no time and throw the ball from the three point territory then he scores. A loud cheer from the girls of the Monteiro children surrounds the backetball court.

"Kuya Thirdy, isa pa." Vino then shouted and Thirdy nods at him, smiling.

That shot triggers Daniel to set-up a good play for Thirdy. And before the end of the Third quarter the lead was down to six in favor of Victor and Santino.

"Dapat po talaga we did not cut the lead to half, that could be our advantage." Santino lamented.

"You talk to much, Concio boy. Don't you realized na kung nag-back to zero ang score, lamang na sila sa atin? In the entire 3rd quarter, you keep on complaining about that 12 points cut in our score, nawawala ka tuloy sa focus ang dami mong shots na sumablay." Victor said.
