Althea got restless since she learned about Aurora’s condition. It is not a secret how close she is to her grandmother. Learning about her illness makes her ponder if it would be better to continue her studies in Italy or stay in the Philippines.
“What are you doing here? Bakit hindi ka pa natutulog?” She heard Laura asked.
“I cant’s sleep, Mommy.” Althea said.
“Would you like to talk about it?” Laura asked. “Tell me what is bothering you.” She said.
“Mommy, I am worried about Mamita, is she dying?” Althea asked which suprises Laura.
“Bakit mo nasabi yan?” Laura asked.
“I did not mean to eavesdrop, but I heard you talking about her health condition.” Althea revealed.
“Mamita is not yet dying, because we are here to take care of her.” Laura said.
“But I heard that her doctor advised her to stay in Italy for the while. How can she be well kung mag-isa lang sya sa Italy. Who will take care of her?” Althea asked.
“Kung narinig mo ang usapan namin kanina, I am certain that you also heard that she wants you to come with her in Italy.” Laura said.
“Yeah, I heard that, too” Althea sadly replied.
“Pero we want you to know na hindi ka namin pipilitin, kaya nga ayaw sana naming ipaalam sa iyo na may sakit si Mamita para madali para sa iyo ang mag-decide.” Laura said.
“I want to take care of Mamita, Mommy. But, paano na ang studies ko, saka yung training ko sa MGOC?” Althea asked.
“I know it will be a tough decision, Baby. That is why, we want you to think about it several times.” Laura said.
“Paano na si Mamita kapag hindi ako sumama sa kanya sa Italy?” Althea asked.
“We will hire someone to take care of her. And then we will call her daily to check on her. Christmas and New Years will be celebrated in Italy with her.” Laura said.
“I really want to come with her, Mommy.” Althea said.
“Pero may pumipigil sa iyo, paano ko ba tatanungin, sino ba o ano ba?” Laura asked.
“Mommy, ano ba yun. Hindi ko kasi alam how will I cope up with my studies kapag nasa Italy na ako. Also, natatakot ako baka hindi ko maalagaang mabuti si Mamita.” Althea said.
“Baby, we will hire a caregiver to look after her. Your presence is enough for her para maging mas malakas sya. Aminin man ni Mamita o hindi, alam naman namin na ikaw ang pinaka-close sa kanya eh.” Laura said.
“Ikaw, Mommy. Do you think I should go with Mamita to live and study in Italy?” Althea asked.
“Ang hirap naman ng tanong mo, Baby. Of course I want all my children na malapit lang sa akin. I want to be there in every milestone of their lives.” Laura uttered.
