After Thirdy’s talk with his Dad and Mom, he made up his mind that he will not go with his sister on the said birthday celebration, despite, if ever, his parents attendance to the party.
“Thirdy.” He heard someone called while he was sitting on the bench near the gate and reading his notes.
“Thea. Akala ko nakauwi ka na.” He said while wearing his signature sweet smile for Althea..
“May research work kami ng mga groupmates ko eh. Ikaw, why are you still here?” Althea asked.
“Wala pa yung sundo ko eh. Ikaw ba pauwi na?” Thirdy replied.
“Yes, pero mukhang kapareho ng sundo mo, na-stuck rin sa traffic si Mang Hector.” Althea replied. “May I join you?” She asked.
“Of course, naunahan mo lang ako eh, I am about to tell you na sabay na tayong maghintay sa mga sundo natin.” Thirdy said.
“Kamusta ka?” Althea asked. “Mukhang sobrang busy ka ah. I seldom see you sa practice ng soccer nila Vino during weekends. Also may na-miss ka nang charity event two weeks ago.” She added.
“Medyo maraming kailangang gawin sa Royalties eh. Hindi pa kasi nakakakuha ng kapalit nung technician na nag-resign.” Thirdy said.
“Grabe, mas daig mo pa ako. Hands-on ka na sa Royalties, samantalang ako observing pa rin sa MGOC.” Althea said.
“Royalties Cebu was my second home, that's why, naumpisahan ko na yung observing part sa business noon pa.” Thirdy said.
“Oo nga, sabi ni Reb, playground nyo ang buong Royalties Cebu. Ako naman, medyo naiinip na rin sa training ko. I want to have some action. I even asked my Dad na baka pwedeng payagan na nya akong pumunta sa planta because I want to see how those wines and liquors are being made. Kaso sabi ni Daddy, it is not yet time for that.” Althea said.
“Ang exciting naman ng ganon. Compare mo naman sa akin na kung hindi nag-aasist sa function hall, sa laundry area nakatambay. And according to Ate, lahat ng sections sa hotel dadaanan ko.” Thirdy said.
“Nagsisisi ka na ba?” Althea asked.
“Nope, infact, I am happy because I changed my mind about my strand. The family business needs me. Now I am beginning to see the hardwork of my Dad and my sister. I am glad because I can tell myself that I made the right decision.” Thirdy said.
“What happened to the ‘your own identity’ na ipinaglalaban mo before?” Althea asked.
“Now I realized, Royalties Hotel Manila defines whoever handles it. Before, it defines my Dad, very aggressive. Walang takot kalabanin ang mga existing big hotels that time. When it was Ate's turn, it became conservative and calm but with elegance.” Thirdy said.
“How about you? How do you see Royalties Hotel, once you takeover it?” Althea asked.
“I see it as the first hotel in country with a state of the art facilities.” Thirdy replied with his smile.
“Ang galing, hindi naman malayong mangyari yun.” Althea commented.
“You think so?” Thirdy asked.
