She was just there. She didn't move a muscle. It was like she was asleep but also like if she wasn't. Her head, her left arm, and right leg were bandaged to stop the bleeding. She looked so peaceful. That's how she slept before Adora left the Horde to find the sword again.

Earlier that day...
Just when Adora and her friends were about to head back to Bright Moon after defeating a squadron of Horde soldiers, Bow found Catra on the ground, just laying there. Adora checked Catra's heartbeat and knew that it was going down. Catra was so still, she looked like she wasn't even breathing. Even though it took Glimmer some persuading, they decided to take Catra back to their home.
It's not that Bow wasn't against the idea, Bow was only afraid that Catra would wake up and attack him or his friends, especially what happened the last time he and Glimmer encountered her.
Glimmer thought he was being paranoid. Then again, Glimmer couldn't stand her either and was thinking she was just playing her unconsciousness to get them off their guard.
Adora had a tornado of emotions swirling in her mind. She felt fear but also anger. She felt heartbreak but also relieved. She was relieved to know Catra was alive, to say the least, but she also did try to hurt Adora's friends multiple times and almost succeeded. She even felt scared for Catra because what if she were to die?

Adora stood there at the foot of the bed, starting at Catra as she was still blacked out. Her chest rose up and down very slowly and she looked like someone had best her senseless. Would the Horde notice she's missing? Would she attack once she awakes?
It was then said that Catra was in a coma. Adora has heard of a coma before but what she didn't know is that it would take a long time for Catra to recover. The doctor couldn't make an estimate about when Catra will wake up. Hearing this made Adora's heart shatter in billions of pieces.
This can't be happening...
What if she never wakes up? Would her heart give out in her sleep? Would Adora lose the one person she truly cares about? Was that the only thing Adora was worried about?
Catra may have tried to kill Adora's friends and Etheria countless times and actually almost defeated them but Adora knew Catra. There was so much more to her than just an evil member of the Horde. The way Adora saw her was a fierce, strong, fiery, and broken but still couldn't be destroyed.
Everyone in the Fright Zone knew that she and Catra had a real close relationship with each other. It wasn't like sisters but it wasn't also like best friends. Lonnie always teased them for being more than best friends. Kyle always thought that it was cute for them to have each other at least.
Adora finally gathered the courage to walk up to Catra on the bed.
"Hi. Listen, you may not hear me but..." She inhaled. "...I'm sorry for everything. I sometimes wished I would have stayed but I had to leave. If you wake right now, you'd probably strangle me or something. Catra, I really tried to get you on our side. Look what they've done to you, and all for being on the wrong side." The blonde sobbed, gesturing towards Catra's dark bruises. Adora grabbed a red flower from a vase that Perfuma sent her. The flower in Adora's hand was at least the size as the palm of her hand.
"Catra, if you can hear me, I want you to listen to every word I say. I never stopped thinking about you. I don't know why I can. Glimmer thinks it's some sort of...obsession? And Bow thinks it's just missing you but I think it's more than that. I wanted you to come with me, more than anything. I sometimes can't bear to fight you; it's too hurtful."
The Princess of Power lightly placed the flower on Catra's chest.
"In case you wake up, I really, really hope you think about joining us. You won't believe how many adventures you go on; how many people and places you meet and see. You always said you wanted to see what's outside the Fright Zone and we only got to see a part of it and you only see the world from an enemy's eye. I want you to see from your eyes. Your beautiful, bright eyes." Adora held a pause for words. "I just hope I get to see those eyes again."
Adora trailed a finger down her cheek near to where her eyes were at. They were closed shut. She remembered when Catra's eyes lit up when she thought they were going to see the world (and conquer it). When those eyes brighten up whenever Adora came up with a plan to prank any of the other young Horde trainees. Even when Shadow Weaver was absent to check up on them and they would sneak up to the roof to watch the horizon, her eyes would brighten up her day.
But now, they were no longer there.

About 6 months later...
Catra was still at rest on the bed she was laid on. It had been only six months and Adora was still having trouble sleeping. What was she supposed to do? Sleep while Catra could slowly be dying? She was surprised that no one from the Horde had come for her but still relieved that Etheria hasn't been attacked in a while.
Adora walked towards Catra's room. The door creaked faintly. Catra still hadn't changed a bit since the beginning of her long-lasting sleep. The more Catra was still unconscious, the more abysmal Adora's feelings had gotten.
Adora did the only thing she could do. She gazed down to the sleeping Catra and pressed her lips delicately against her cold, barren lips. She laid her lips on Catra's for what seemed like hours but nothing. Bow had told her fairytales about sleeping princesses who were awakened by a prince charming and lived off happily ever after but this was no fairy tale. In fact, it was the outright opposite of a fairy tale.
As she pulled away, Adora's tears wistfully fell off her face. She tried everything to wake her up but she ended up with nothing. Not even Glimmer or Bow or anyone else could make her feel better. At least until Catra was alive and kicking.
"If you're still in there, please just wake up already. I can't take another minute of this. Just please open your eyes. Help me, Catra. Help me and wake up so I can stop going insane." Adora relaxed her hand on Catra's cheek and kissed her lips again. Once again, nothing happened; nothing has happened for last couple of months.
"Come back to me, Catra." She kissed her once more. "Come back."
Nothing.
